Mass Effect 2 is the official continuation of the hit role-playing game released in 2007. BioWare studio, the creators of Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, is again responsible for the preparation of the sequel. This production takes us into the distant future, offering the possibility of exploring a galaxy inhabited by many intelligent races. The action of the sequel takes place two years after the events of the first part of the series, i.e. in the year 2185. We play the role of Commander Shepard, who, after successfully repelling the invasion of the Reapers, has to face a new danger. It turns out that human colonies are gradually disappearing from the fringes of the universe. The main character is forced to ally with the ruthless Cerberus organization and sets out on a suicide mission to investigate the causes of the loss of these planets. We can start the game in two ways, namely by creating a completely new character or by loading a saved game from the first Mass Effect. In the latter case, we can count not only on the preservation of the unlocked character traits, but also on the transfer of information about all previously made decisions to a new universe. This, in turn, can have a significant impact on the course of the game. For example, an individual whom we helped previously may now try to repay us somehow. The main character is not forced to explore the game world alone, because, like in the first part, we can lead a team of up to three people, choosing helpers depending on the preferences, class, skills or characteristics of the current mission. In Mass Effect 2, we lead both celebrities known to fans of the series (including Tali'Zorah) and completely new characters (including Samara and Thane). In this sequel, even more emphasis was placed on the need to fight spectacular fights. This time around twenty classes of weapons are at our disposal, as well as many interesting biotic powers, the skillful selection of which allows us to achieve successive victories. Compared to the first part, the systems responsible for aiming and giving orders to teammates have been improved, as well as a more complex mechanism of dealing damage (the ability to deprive the enemy of limbs, mutilate him or blind him with a headshot) has been added. The gameplay, however, is not only about combat, as numerous conversations with NPCs have also been improved. Skillful selection of dialogue lines, combined with the use of personal charm or the intimidation function, can now lead to even more interesting solutions. We still use a spaceship to move between the main locations, selecting new destinations directly from the galaxy map. It is still possible to study less important planets in search of interesting finds or minerals, although the manufacturer has significantly diversified the range of available side missions. As a result, they are no longer limited to the necessity to eliminate hostile creatures. The visual setting of Mass Effect 2 has been maintained in a similar graphic style to the first part of the series, also presenting a similar level of performance. During our adventure, we visit planets with diverse architecture or unusual fauna and flora. Events are still seen from a third person perspective.
