The authors did not make radical changes to the gameplay mechanisms, instead focusing on offering additional content. The biggest novelty is the introduction of the playable Unbending faction. Its armies consist mainly of Paladins, i.e. noble warriors clad in large mechanical armor and wielding electric weapons. They are assisted in their battles by mysterious Seers who have abilities to predict the future. An important novelty is the introduction to the game of Grails, i.e. powerful objects on maps, the addition of which provides long-term bonuses. Unlocking them requires the completion of multi-stage tasks, but they are worth the effort, as they greatly facilitate the construction of the most powerful empires.
