Move or Die is an arcade game focused on local competition. It is the first project of Those Awesome Guys independent studio. Paradoxically, the developer called "Those Cool Dudes" in the initial period of its existence was a sole proprietorship, founded by the Romanian creator Nicolae Berbecego. The title proudly describes itself as "combining all the party games in one package" and "a four-player game that will ruin your friendship."
Gameplay
The basis for the game are the basic principles of the 2D platformer. Usually, four characters move on one static board that takes up the entire screen. Before starting the game, participants choose one of the many characters, unlocked along with the progress and achievements in the game. However, they are only a cosmetic accessory and do not have any special skills.
After the match starts, users are placed in the arena with one task - win as many rounds as possible to finish on the podium. To meet this requirement, it is necessary to adapt to the changing rules and conditions of victory. Every 20 seconds or so we are inundated with perfunctory suggestions of what to do. For example, we start by painting the tiles on the board with our color. Whoever paints over the most of them wins. But soon we pass the ticking bomb among ourselves, we race along the winding paths to the targets placed in the location, we try to keep the crown on our head for as long as possible or we avoid the rain of deadly squares falling from the sky. As the title suggests, in Move or Die, the primary method of staying alive is constantly on the move. Each moment of immobility causes our character to lose health points, and a longer stop ends up with a spectacular explosion.
Game modes
The title is based on multiplayer challenges. The player may decide to practice a few rounds with bots, but sooner or later it is better to find human opponents. The production strongly suggests that the best way to have fun is to compete locally with one machine, but it also allows you to find opponents via the Internet. Many elements of the game can be adjusted to the preferences of the participants and there is no problem with deleting a minigame you don't like, adding a task created by modders or increasing the number of victory points to an absurd level.
