Sika-Design Machiya Bench Natural

Design: Sika Design Concept: Sika-Design presents Machiya, a beautiful and handmade collection designed by Jin Kuramoto in 2020. The name "Machiya" is taken from the traditional townhouses found all over Japan. Terraced houses that are built side by side, which make use of the space as efficiently as possible, as well as characteristic vertical wooden slats on the facades. Through beautiful lines and a practical storage shelf, these characteristics are implemented in the Machiya furniture. Created by skilled basket makers in sustainable rattan material, it is a piece of craftsmanship that can be seen and felt in every detail. Rattan is often compared to bamboo, but unlike bamboo which is hollow, rattan is a solid material. This makes rattan furniture remarkably strong and able to last for generations.
