People of the Spirit - Jack W. Hayford - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Romans Bible Study - Kevin G. Harney - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Romans Bible Study - Kevin G. Harney - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Christians in the first century lived in a world ruled by Rome. The vast size of the Roman Empire meant that it incorporated many different people groups who followed many different religions. Christians were thus often confronted with practices mandated by the local authorities where they lived that went against their faith in Jesus. But even more problematic, they were also often confronted with worldviews and systems of belief that went against their faith. This was especially true of the believers who lived in the capital city of Rome. So it was that when Paul decided to visit the city, he first sent them a letter outlining the key principles and "doctrines" of the Christian faith. Paul explained what humans are really like (sinful), what God has done to provide an escape from the consequences of humanity''s sin, and what a lifestyle that goes out of a Christian worldview looks like. Today, we need to know the same! We need to have a deep understanding of what we believe so we know how to respond when faced with other beliefs that go against Christ. Each study in the NIV Application Commentary Resources series employs a three-step process to help you understand both the historical meaning of a biblical text and its relevance in modern times. The original meaning section reveals the questions and concerns the author was addressing. The past to present section then explains what significance the original audience would have found in the passage and what significance you can find in it today. Finally, the questions that accompany each section will help you specifically apply the author''s words and teachings and find meaning in them for what you are facing in your life. Lessons: 1) The Gospel of Righteousness by Faith (Romans 1–32; 3:21–26) 1) Addicted to Sin (Romans 2:1–3:20) 1) The Righteousness of God (Romans 3:21–4:25) 1) Peace and Hope (Romans 5:1–21) 1) Freedom from Sin (Romans 6:1–23) 1) Freedom from the Law (Romans 7:1–25) 1) Life in the Spirit (Romans 8:1–39) 1) The Problem of Israel (Romans 9:1–10:21) 1) Israel''s Future (Romans 11:1–36) 1) The Transformed Life (Romans 12:1–21) 1) Love and Law (Romans 13:1–14) 1) Life Together (Romans 14:1–16:27)

The Fight to Flourish Study Guide with DVD - Jennie Lusko - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

The Fight to Flourish Study Guide with DVD - Jennie Lusko - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Flourishing . Is that a word you would use to describe yourself, or only someone else? Does the idea of flourishing in life seem out of reach for you? Do you assume that you''ll have to wait until after you have gotten through your current struggle before you can figure out how to flourish? This might seem counterintuitive, but flourishing actually begins during the struggle. It''s in the fight through the pain that we can begin to thrive. In The Fight to Flourish , Jennie Lusko points out that just like some plants need darkness to grow, it''s the dark and difficult times that God uses to grow our faith. Drawing on her experiences after the loss of her five-year-old daughter, Lenya, Jennie shows us that the ingredients for a fresh and thriving life can be found by fighting through even our most difficult days. In this study, Jennie teaches these key lessons: - Whether we''re wallowing in disappointment, crushed by heartache, or seeing stars from one of life''s sucker punches, we can allow the Light of the World to shine through us. - In order to flourish, we have to tend to our spirituality by cultivating our spiritual garden. - We fight through distractions, insecurities, and feelings of being underqualified or overwhelmed by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus. - Instead of shutting down and isolating during a trying season, cultivate vulnerability, transparency, and deep friendships. - Being forced out of our comfort zone can move us in a new direction of growth, learning, and maturity, where we flourish to capacity, even in and through our pain. God can help us make the most out of our struggle, because a flourishing life in every season is worth fighting for. Sessions include: 1) The Fight in the Dark (15:00) 1) Don’t Bloom Where You’re Planted (12:00) 1) Ready, Set, Live! Love Does Study Guide with DVD - Bob Goff - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Love Does Study Guide with DVD - Bob Goff - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Love isn''t a feeling. It''s an activity. It''s something you do . And participating in the act of love is the secret to understanding God''s love--the secret to a life well lived. Building on the foundation of the New York Times bestseller, Love Does , the Love Does video study is a case study in love done--a love that''s practical, functional, active. Not a "love" that has all the right answers. Not a "love" with ulterior motives. Not a "love" that''s all talk or paralyzed by doubt. But a radically alive love that''s an intentional participation in God''s world. How is that kind of love done? The how is what this study is about. Real growth happens when you learn how to tap into the empowering, energizing love of God. Using it fills you. Risking it secures you. Giving it satisfies you. Each of the five sessions in the Love Does video study explores a different aspect of God''s active love through Bob Goff''s teachings and stories: - I''m With You - we''ve been given the invitation to love. Taking it seriously is where life meets faith. - Free to Fail - exploring the nature of failure, how it works, and what God does with it. - Audacious Love - understanding why receiving love is essential to giving love. - Be Not Afraid - chasing out the anxieties that keep us from acting and living the life that Jesus has called us to. - Follow Me - delving into how to bring our passions and plans together and bind them to God''s plan. This study guide provides teaching notes, discussion questions, Bible study, between-session activities and a practical application called "Putting Love into Action," which gives you the opportunity to put the principles you have learned into real-life practice. It''s time to step off the ledge and fall into God''s immeasurable love. Sessions include: 1) I’m With You (8:00) 1) Free to Fail (14:00) 1) Audacious Love (8:00) 1) Be Not Afraid (15:00) 1) Follow Me (11:00) This pack contains: - Love Does Study Guide - Love Does Video Study DVD

Forward Bible Study Guide - Dr. David Jeremiah - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

Forward Bible Study Guide - Dr. David Jeremiah - Bog - HarperChristian Resources - Plusbog.dk

What is holding you back in life? No matter your circumstances , no matter your past , no matter your age ...God wants you to move FORWARD ! In Forward, b eloved Bible teacher and New York Times Bestselling Author, Dr. David Jeremiah teaches a master class in how to live fearlessly and get your life in focus. The Christian life is to be lived looking forward and with our eyes fixed on the race in front of us—not looking back over at our shoulder at the other runners or the past. In the Bible, the apostle said as much when he wrote, Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. In many ways, John''s Gospel functions as both a Gospel and a letter. As a Gospel, it tells the story of Jesus and his role as revealer of God the Father and provider of redemption to all humanity. As a letter, it encouraged first-century Christians in the life they had chosen, revealed how life in Christ was different from Judaism, and corrected false teachings (like those of the Gnostics). But fundamentally, John''s Gospel narrates the life of Jesus and reveals that he was truly the Son of God. Jesus had lived in the flesh among the people. John, being one of Jesus'' closest disciples, had witnessed Jesus teaching those who followed him, seen the miracles that he had performed, and was there when he was crucified and then raised from the dead. Yet in spite of all the miraculous signs, pointed teachings, and resurrection, there were still questions about Jesus'' divinity. So John sought, through his own personal testimony, to reveal why Jesus was fully divine while also being fully human. John made it clear that Jesus would be filled with power from the Holy Spirit and that when Christ left the earth, he made that same power available to all his followers—both in the first century and for followers today. Each study in the NIV Application Bible Study series employs a three-step process to help you understand both the historical meaning of a biblical text and its relevance in modern times.
