Spring (Lawrence Alma-Tadema) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

In his Spring painting (1894), Lawrence Alma-Tadema represented the Victorian custom of sending children to collect flowers on the morning of May 1, or May Day. By placing the scene in ancient Rome, he suggested the festival’s great antiquity through architectural details, dress, sculpture and musical instruments based on Roman originals. Alma-Tadema’s curiosity about the ancient world was insatiable, and he incorporated his knowledge into over 300 paintings of ancient archaeological and architectural design. In later years, his large panoramic depictions of Greek and Roman life caught the attention of Hollywood. The set design of certain scenes in Cecil B. DeMille’s film Cleopatra (1934) was inspired by this painting. We are honoured to feature a detail from Spring as part of our collaborative The J. Paul Getty Museum Collection. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 18mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Multi-colour - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: No - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper

Gaudi, The Manuscript of Reus (Embellished Manuscripts Collection) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog -

Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) was a Spanish architect who was known as a leading figure in Modernism and the pioneer of Catalan Art Nouveau. Gaudí’s work was greatly influenced by his passions in life: architecture, nature and religion. His exceptional style is characterized by the depiction of organic forms, abstract lines and extraordinary mosaics. Gaudí rarely drew detailed plans of his works, instead preferring to create them as three-dimensional scale models and moulding the details as he conceived them. As such he left very few written documents, and many of those he did leave were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War riots. Reproduced here is the Manuscrito de Reus (Manuscript of Reus), the only remaining written document of Gaudí’s. The notebook, which is a collection of his diverse impressions of architecture, is now kept at Reus Museum in his native Catalonia. Further embellishing our cover are Gaudí’s incredible mosaics from his iconic salamander sculpture alongside an image of the Basílica de la Sagrada Familia, his architectural masterpiece. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 180mm (7") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 20mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Wrap - Colour: Beige - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: No - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper

Layla (Persian Poetry) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Layla (Persian Poetry) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

This design pays tribute to an 18th-century binding that housed the Khamsa, a seminal work by Persian Sunni Muslim poet Nizami Ganjavi (c. 1141–1209). Featuring intricate floral detail, our Layla cover design beautifully mirrors the contents of the original volume. Considered the greatest romantic poet in Persian literature and described as a “creator of poetic scenes,” Nizami brought a colloquial and otherworldly quality to the Persian epic. His best-known work, the Khamsa (also known in English as the Five Treasures), is a series of five long narrative poems. The first of these, Makhzan-ol-Asrâr, was influenced by Sanai Ghaznavi’s The Walled Garden of Truth, an early Sufi book of mystical poetry. The four other poems are medieval romances. His tragic story of star-crossed lovers Layla and Majnun has famously inspired many contemporary artists with its theme of unrequited love. The delicately adorned cover of this Layla journal, the second title in our Persian Poetry series, reflects the beauty of the words held within the original 18th-century book. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 18mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Red - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: Yes - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper

Gaudi’s Sun (Gaudi’s Mosaics) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Wrap Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926), a Spanish architect from Catalonia, was one of the greatest pioneers of 19th-century architecture. Gaudí’s works have a highly individualized style, defined by his unique compositions, organic shapes and kaleidoscopic designs. They transcend not only mainstream Modernism, but traditional art forms. Perhaps Gaudí’s most-loved contribution to his city of Barcelona is Park Güell, a vibrant garden filled with his art. Reproduced here is a section of a mosaic sun on the ceiling of the park’s Hypostyle Room, alongside the abstract lines from his chimney pots at the Casa Milà building. Gaudí’s last work of civic architecture, Casa Milà (also known as La Pedrera) represented a break with the conventions of his day, designed as a totally undulating building with a beating heart like a living being. Gaudí’s fascination with the geometry of nature stemmed from his deep religious devotion, seeing the organic lines as a form of divine creation. With this design, we celebrate Gaudí’s vision and the sense of heaven on earth he created for us all to enjoy. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 180mm (7") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 20mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Wrap - Colour: Orange - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: No - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper

The Famous Five (Enid Blyton) Ultra Lined Softcover Flexi Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Picnics, summer holidays and lashings of ginger beer… it’s hard not to picture the stories of Enid Blyton when thinking of these nostalgic moments. A prolific writer, Blyton penned over 700 books and thousands of short stories that captured an idyllic childhood full of adventure in the countryside. A common theme in Blyton’s writing is the atmospheric representation of life in a rural landscape. Though her works spanned multiple genres, it was stories that focused on family that were her favourite to write. One of Blyton’s most popular works was The Famous Five, a series of children’s adventure stories that centre around a group of four cousins – Julian, Dick, Anne and George – and George’s dog, Timmy. Reproduced here are the illustrations from the covers of two books in the series, Five on a Treasure Island and Five on Finniston Farm. These classic images are the works of Eileen Soper, whose illustrations bring the wonderfully nostalgic quality of Blyton’s works to life. We are honoured to celebrate Enid Blyton’s works with this commemorative design. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 225mm (8¾") x Depth: 12mm (½") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 176Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Blue - GSM (paper weight): 100 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Softcover - Edge Printing: No - Pouch Type: Back Cover Pouch - Interior Paper: Smooth - Ribbon Markers: 1 - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Cloth headbands - Acid-free sustainable forest paper - Flexible cover and spine

Fiammetta Ultra Lined Softcover Flexi Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Ignite your creativity with fiery Fiammetta. This sensuous Baroque-inspired cover comes from a 1725 binding of The Decameron of Giovanni Boccaccio, a masterpiece of Italian literature. Giovanni Boccaccio (1313–1375) was an Italian writer and poet who helped lay the foundations of Renaissance humanism. His defining work, The Decameron, is a collection of novellas, each narrated by one of ten main characters who find shelter from the Black Death in a secluded villa just outside Florence in 1348. There are tales of witty practical jokes, lustful romantic entanglements and tragic, real-life consequences. With its scope from humour to tragedy and its vivid narrative structure, The Decameron remains an affirmation of humanity and moral values even when read today. This 18th-century binding of The Decameron is now held at the Musée Condé in Chantilly, France. With golden flowers and arabesques bursting forth from a rich, red background, our Fiammetta design, named for one of the book’s main characters, is sure to spark your imagination and let your passions flow. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 225mm (8¾") x Depth: 12mm (½") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 176Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Red - GSM (paper weight): 100 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Softcover - Edge Printing: No - Pouch Type: Back Cover Pouch - Interior Paper: Smooth - Ribbon Markers: 1 - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Cloth headbands - Acid-free sustainable forest paper - Flexible cover and spine

Kara-ori Pink (Japanese Kimono) Ultra Lined Softcover Flexi Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Kara-ori Pink (Japanese Kimono) Ultra Lined Softcover Flexi Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Showcasing silk dyed with beni (the pigment extracted from safflower petals) and lacquered in gold, this kimono design dates to the Edo period (1615–1868). It was originally used as a costume for the theatrical style known as Noh. Karaori refers specifically to the exquisitely embroidered woman’s kimono that traditional Noh theatre was known for. Both the material itself and the pattern depicted would have helped tell the story of the character. In this case, the stiff brocade creates a thick, glossed fabric that would not drape easily – this created an angular effect evoking the spirit of a noblewoman. The pattern of flowering grasses emphasized the character’s femininity. By the Meiji period (1868–1912) Noh had reached such heights that it was widely introduced overseas, and today there are still more than 70 Noh theatres throughout Japan. This beautiful example of karaori costuming can now be found at the Art Institute of Chicago. It is our great pleasure to work with such a gorgeous and culturally important piece of history to craft this journal design. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 225mm (8¾") x Depth: 12mm (½") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 176Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Pink - GSM (paper weight): 100 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Softcover - Edge Printing: No - Pouch Type: Back Cover Pouch - Interior Paper: Smooth - Ribbon Markers: 1 - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Cloth headbands - Acid-free sustainable forest paper - Flexible cover and spine

Iron Horse (Pacifica) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Get ready to follow your creative train of thought with Pacifica! Reproducing a gold stamped, dark brown leather binding designed by Alice Cordelia Morse, Pacifica represents a spirit of grand adventure. The original binding was crafted to hold William Seward Webb’s California and Alaska and Over the Canadian Pacific Railway, a well-regarded travelogue first published in 1890. This exquisite edition was produced as a deluxe gift book and was limited to only 500 copies. The copy reproduced here is now held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Library in New York City. As an artist, Morse maintained the belief that the book designer must take the central idea of the book and creatively depict it on the cover. For this binding, one can imagine her creating train tracks crisscrossing a map, or perhaps even the spokes of a compass, in the gold stamping she patterned. Travel is said to broaden the mind, so it is our hope that our Iron Horse design will inspire your creativity and expression through not just the beauty of the binding, but the unique story behind it. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 18mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Brown - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: Yes - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper

Cezanne’s Terracotta Pots and Flowers Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks - Plusbog.dk

Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) was a French painter who is regarded as one of the greatest of the post-Impressionists. Often called the “Father of Modern Art,” his works and ideas were influential in the aesthetic development of many 20th-century artists and art movements. Reproduced here is a work from his later years, Terracotta Pots and Flowers (1891–1892), which saw Cézanne enter a new world of still life painting. This change in pace exemplified his desire for a new form of personal expression as he sought to slow down and draw focus back to the everyday. Terracotta Pots and Flowers showcases Cézanne’s intense study of still life compositions. His works such as this one explored the connections and harmonies between everyday objects. Here he arranges a red cloth, a rum bottle with straw binding and a light blue pitcher with potted geraniums inside the greenhouse at his father’s estate near Aix-en-Provence. We are honoured to feature this pivotal painting from the Barnes Foundation, an educational institution based in Philadelphia, as the first release from our collaborative collection. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 18mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Green - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: Yes - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper

The Brothers Grimm, Frog Prince (Fairy Tale Collection) Ultra Lined Hardback Journal (Elastic Band Closure) - Paperblanks - Bog - Paperblanks -

Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were pioneers in the field of folklore, collecting stories through Germany’s rich oral tradition in order to preserve a history that might otherwise have been lost forever. In doing so, they popularized some of today’s most enduring fairy tales. “The Frog Prince; or, Iron Henry” was the first tale in the 1812 edition of Grimms’ Fairy Tales (Kinder- und Hausmärchen). It tells the story of a spoiled princess who reluctantly befriends a frog who, unbeknownst to her, is actually a prince under a sorcerer’s spell. In the original tale, the curse is lifted when the princess throws the frog against a brick wall in anger, but in later years the Brothers Grimm sanitized the story, turning it into the tale we know today. The Grimms’ impact was so profound that it is hard to imagine a world without these stories as they continue to be passed down through generations. We are honoured to reproduce this manuscript from the Bodmer Foundation as the first release in our Fairy Tale Collection. - Format: Ultra - Size: Width: 175mm (6¾") x Height: 230mm (9") x Depth: 18mm (¾") - Interior: Lined - Space between lines: 8.11mm - Lines Per Page: 25 - Page Count: 144Pages - Closure: Elastic Band - Colour: Green - GSM (paper weight): 120 - Binding Type: Smyth Sewn - Cover: Hardcover - Edge Printing: Yes - Pouch Type: Memento Pouch - Interior Paper: Custom-designed laid paper - Ribbon Markers: 1 - 100% recycled binder boards - Decorative printed cover paper - FSC-certified text paper - Threaded stitching and glue, as needed - Acid-free sustainable forest paper
