Motor Vehicle Science - P. Kett - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

Motor Vehicle Science - P. Kett - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

A motor vehicle technician has to attain high technological skills to enable him or her to diagnose faults and service modern transport vehicles and their components. Science is a branch of study concerned with the systematic investigation of observed facts, and forms an important foundation on which to build sound engineering practice. Such a background will stimulate personal development by increasing confidence and intellectual ability. This is the first of two books planned to cover the TEe U77/413 and 415 Motor Vehicle Science II and III Model programmes of study. Part 1 is intended to cover the requirements of Motor Vehicle Science II. The fundamental principles of engineering science have been applied to the motor vehicle in a systematic and progressive manner to enable the reader to follow most of the work on his or her initiative. The book is aimed mainly at the student who is attending a recognized college course leading to a Technician qualification. The importance of the college lecturer and his individual method of teaching the subject remains of prime importance to the student. The book is designed to become a valid source of information to assist the student both in and out of the classroom environment to attain his or her objective. Numerous fully worked and exercise examples are given. Plenty of practice in solving problems is an excellent way to gain knowledge of the subject, and improve confidence in preparation for an examination.

A History of the Royal College of General Practitioners - - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

John P. Horder, President, 1980-82 The first 30 years of the College have been an exciting experience for those most closely involved. Some have already passed on, but this account has been written soon enough for many of the actors to be historians. Future members of the College will be grateful to them for what they have written, as well as for what they did as a remarkably determined and harmonious team. Students of twentieth century medicine in this country will also be grateful for a first-hand account of the development of an institution which has been closely associated with, and partly responsible for, important changes in medical care and education. Those who read these pages may wonder how the builders of this young College could have found time to do much general practice. They did. The three editors of this history, which covers 25 years, and the general practitioner members of the Steering Committee all ran large practices, in which they worked very hard throughout that time. Most of their work for the College was done during off-duty hours, weekends and holidays. The College could not have developed as it did, had they not been personally concerned with the practical problems and needs of clinical medicine. This is also true of many of the contributors. It is impossible to mention everyone who deserves credit. The editors hope that they may be forgiven for any serious omissions.

Handbook of Laboratory Health and Safety Measures - - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

Handbook of Laboratory Health and Safety Measures - - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

During the past two decades, many books, governmental reports and regulations on safety measures against chemicals, fire, microbiological and radioactive hazards in laboratories have been published from various countries. These topics have also been briefly discussed in books on laboratory planning and management. The application of various scientific instruments based on different ionizing and non-ionizing radiations have brought new safety problems to the laboratory workers of today, irrespective of their scientific disciplines, be they in medicine, natural or life sciences. However, no comprehensive laboratory handbook dealing with all these hazards, some of which are recently introduced, has so far been available in a single volume. Therefore, it was thought worthwhile to publish this handbook on safety and health measures for laboratories, with contributions from several experts on these subjects. As this is a multi-author volume, some duplication in content among the chapters is unavoidable in order to maintain the context of a chapter as well as to make each chapter complete. An attempt has also been made to maintain the central theme, which is how to work in a laboratory with maximum possible environmental safety. I am indebted to Mr D. G. T. Bloomer of MTP Press Limited, who has undertaken the publication of this volume and to Mrs M. R. Lingard-Pal, for acting as an honorary editorial assistant. S. B. The Paris Lectures - Edmund Husserl - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

The present translation is based on the German original, which has been edited by Professor S. Strasser and published. in Husse1'' liana-Edmund H usserl, Gesammelte We1''ke. A uj Grund des N ach lasses ve1''ojjentlicht vom Husse1''l-Archiv (Louvain) unlet'' Leitung vonH. L. Van Breda, vol. I (The Hague: Martinus Nijhoff, 1950), pages 3-39. Both my translation of the Paris Lectures and the Introductory Essay had been completed before the appearance of two sub stantial scholarly achievements: Dorion Cairns'' faithful trans lation of Husserl''s difficult Cartesianische Meditationen and Herbert Spiegelberg''s detailed and comprehensive two-volume work, The Phenomenological Movement. I have since collated most carefully Professor Cairns'' translation with my own in those passages which are similar in the German of the Carte sianische Meditationen and the Pariser Vorlriige. As a result I was able to make several useful changes. Also, I have incorporated some material which had been unavailable to me prior to the publication of Professor Spiegelberg''s work. However, I did not have the benefit of Dorion Cairns'' Guide /0''1'' Reading Busserl, which, at this writing, is not yet available in print. I would like to express my gratitude to the publishers as well as to Dr. Herman Leo Van Breda, Rudolf Boehm, and to the Husserl Archives for their patience, encouragement, help, and suggestions. The Politics of Education Reforms - - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

The Politics of Education Reforms, which is the ninth volume in the 12-volume book series Globalisation, Comparative Education and Policy Research, presents scholarly research on major discourses concerning the politics of education reforms globally. It provides an easily accessible, practical yet scholarly source of information about recent developments in globalisation, comparative edu- tion and education reforms. Above all, the book offers the latest findings to the critical issues concerning major discourses surrounding education reforms in the global culture. It is a sourcebook of ideas for researchers, practitioners and policy makers in education, and schooling around the world. It offers a timely overview of current policy issues affecting research in comparative education of education reforms. It provides directions in education, and policy research, relevant to p- gressive pedagogy, social change and transformational educational reforms in the twenty-first century. Atlas of Two-Dimensional Echocardiography in Congenital Cardiac Defects - G. J. Van Mill - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

Atlas of Two-Dimensional Echocardiography in Congenital Cardiac Defects - G. J. Van Mill - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

In a relatively short period of time two-dimensional echo cardiography has become the most important non-invasive diagnostic tool in the daily practice of a pediatric cardiologist who predominantly deals with congenital structural heart disease in neonates and infants. Consequently, one-dimensional M-mode echocardiography has lost most of its importance particularly in this field. Therefore, an atlas showing exclusively two-dimensional echocardiograms of the most common and some less frequently occurring malformations appeared to be a useful addition to the existing literature. The confinement to two dimensional imaging alone allowed an elaborate presentation of the various defects with more than 200 selected still frames and many additional explanatory drawings and diagrams. The material was collected from patients who were referred to the Department of Pediatric Cardiology of the Wilhelmina University Children''s Hospital in Utrecht during a period of about 2 years. The two-dimensional echocardiographic findings were correlated with cardiac catheterization data and/or surgical procedures and/or post mortem investigations. The necessary echocardiographic equipment was aquired with financial aid from the Dutch Heart Foundation. We are indebted to Mrs. J. W. Wetselaar for her outstanding artwork. We also thank P. D. Woltema and F. J. van Waert for the photographic reproductions, Jacomine Bosma for preparing and type-setting the entire manuscript and Dr. N. Middleton for critically reading the English text. G. Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Coeliac Disease in Children - - Bog - Springer - Plusbog.dk

Despite significant progress in modern gastroenterology, the aetiology of inflammatory bowel disease as well as coeliac disease is still to a great extent unknown and poorly understood. The principles of treatment - particularly of IBD - emphasize the importance of a combined medical and surgical approach. This book is the proceedings of an international symposium that brought together workers from many disciplines involved in the treatment of IBD and coeliac disease, and is a useful update on recent advances in paediatric and paediatric-surgical gastroenterology.
