Explore Internet marketing from cross-cultural and cross-national perspectives! This book examines cutting-edge theory and practice on Internet marketing, putting the latest research on the best ways to exploit this interactive advertising medium in your hands. In Internet Applications in Euromarketing, scholars from Europe and the United States examine essential facets of Internet use, both as a means of product promotion and as a facilitator of consumers? purchasing decisions. The handy charts and tables in this well-referenced book make important points of information easy to access and understand. Internet Applications in Euromarketing looks in-depth at what works and what doesn?t, addressing the questions on marketers? minds (and some that many haven?t thought of yet), including: - Where is a company?s marketing money best spent?what are the media effects for Internet exposure vs. television and print? - Is it useful to mention a price, a rebate, or a gift to encourage the Internet user to move from the banner?s host site to the brand?s site? - What are the Internet habits and preferences of seniors, and what are the best ways to reach them? - Are banner ads that are disguised as messages from the user?s operating system more effective than those that simply appear as advertising? - How can we generate word-of-mouth Internet communication?via e-mail, newsgroups, bulletin boards, chat rooms, etc.?and establish credibility? - - What are the advantages of online discussions over traditional focus groups?

Lectures on N_X - Jean Pierre Serre - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

Lectures on N_X - Jean Pierre Serre - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

Lectures on N X (p) deals with the question on how N X (p), the number of solutions of mod p congruences, varies with p when the family (X) of polynomial equations is fixed. While such a general question cannot have a complete answer, it offers a good occasion for reviewing various techniques in l-adic cohomology and group representations, presented in a context that is appealing to specialists in number theory and algebraic geometry. Along with covering open problems, the text examines the size and congruence properties of N X (p) and describes the ways in which it is computed, by closed formulae and/or using efficient computers. The first four chapters cover the preliminaries and contain almost no proofs. After an overview of the main theorems on N X (p), the book offers simple, illustrative examples and discusses the Chebotarev density theorem, which is essential in studying frobenian functions and frobenian sets. It also reviews ℓ-adic cohomology. The author goes on to present results on group representations that are often difficult to find in the literature, such as the technique of computing Haar measures in a compact ℓ-adic group by performing a similar computation in a real compact Lie group. These results are then used to discuss the possible relations between two different families of equations X and Y. The author also describes the Archimedean properties of N X (p), a topic on which much less is known than in the ℓ-adic case. Following a chapter on the Sato-Tate conjecture and its concrete aspects, the book concludes with an account of the prime number theorem and the Chebotarev density theorem in higher dimensions.

Culture and Civilization - - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

Culture and Civilization - - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

Intellectual activity in the twentieth century took place largely under the banner of science and society. As the new millennium develops, it is becoming evident that science and society are not words that represent an unmitigated good, nor for that matter, do they exhaust what is new in the human condition. Past writing on the theme of culture has emphasized the growth and expansion of human capabilities. Recent use of the term "civilization" has placed great emphasis on the fall from grace of human beings. The use of both terms is rapidly changing. Culture and Civilization develops critical ideas intended to produce a positive intellectual climate, one that is prepared to confront threats, and alert us to the opportunities of the twenty-first century. It recognizes that the twenty-first century presents people in all fields and of all faiths with shared challenges. Culture and Civilization embraces the work of novelists, journalists, cultural figures, technologists, physical sciences, historians, and policy personnel who range beyond social science areas. What they have in common is a view that civilization is under assault and that it represents a cause worth advancing and defending. This publication does not embrace idiosyncratic visions of the clash of world civilizations or the end of Western civilization. It does attempt to bring together immediate issues of the century that are substantially new and challenging. We see that the essential polarity between democracy and autocracy has now taken on larger, deeper dimensions in a different political, economic, and ecological terrain: the central issue of our day is now civilization versus barbarism. The character of democratic culture is central to the global equation and the systemic challenge. This publication is a sober response to such a challenge.

Physics for Diagnostic Radiology - Brian Heaton - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

With every chapter revised and updated, Physics for Diagnostic Radiology, Third Edition continues to emphasise the importance of physics education as a critical component of radiology training. This bestselling text helps readers understand how various imaging techniques work, from planar analogue and digital radiology to computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine, and positron emission tomography (PET) to ultrasound imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). New to the Third Edition - Material on digital receptors Emphasis on the differences between analogue and digital images Coverage of multi-slice CT and three-dimensional resolution, dual energy applications, and cone beam CT Special radiographic techniques, including subtraction techniques and interventional radiology New chapter on PET, with discussion of multi-modality imaging (PET/CT) Additional material on radiation doses and risks to patients New chapter covering picture archiving and communication system (PACS), teleradiology, networks, archiving, and related factors A summary of the main teaching points at the beginning of each chapter After an introductory chapter on basic physics, the book follows the x-ray imaging process: production of x-rays, interaction with the patient, radiation measurement, the image receptor, the radiological image, and image quality assessment. It then covers more advanced x-ray techniques as well as imaging with radioactive materials. The text also focuses on radiobiology, risk and radiation protection, and imaging with non-ionising radiation. The final chapter discusses data handling in a modern, electronic radiology department.

Cellular Manufacturing - John X. (lean Six Sigma Institute Of Technology Wang - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

In today’s business world, competitiveness defines the industrial leading edge. Organizations and businesses of all sizes are adopting Lean manufacturing practices to increase efficiency and address worries about their bottom lines. In a detailed review of this staple of Lean manufacturing, Cellular Manufacturing: Mitigating Risk and Uncertainty outlines how cellular manufacturing can do just that. It demonstrates how this approach can help you and your teams build a variety of products with as little waste as possible. The book begins by presenting a survey of the current state of existing methods that can best be used in the handling of the bottleneck machines and parts problem, which results from the cellular manufacturing system design. It then explores how decision making under risk is used to help the designer select the best cell arrangement in case of probabilistic production volume and maximize the profit imposed by resource capacity constraints. The author then presents a method for the system design of a manufacturing cell that aims for profit maximization over a certain period of time. He also discusses robust design, illustrated with a real application. Put simply, cellular manufacturing integrates machinery and a small team of staff, directed by a team leader, so all the work on a product or part can be accomplished in the same cell eliminating resources that do not add value to the product. A concise yet unique reference, this book incorporates decision making under risk into cellular manufacturing. The text makes the link that ties cellular manufacturing to the bottom line. It helps you recognize savings opportunities from elimination of downtime between operations, decreased material handling costs, decreased work-in-progress inventory and associated costs, reduced opportunity for handling errors, decreased downtime spent waiting for supplies or materials, and reduced losses from defective or obsolete products.
