Jump Force is a three-dimensional fighting game licensed from numerous anime and manga series published by the Japanese magazine Shonen Jump, such as Dragon Ball, Naruto, Zodiac Knights, Hunter x Hunter, Bleach, JoJo's Bizzare Adventure or One Piece. Spike Chunsoft studio is responsible for its creation, and it was published by Bandai Namco.
The plot The action of the game takes place in an alternative reality, in which the worlds known from teen anime (known as shonen) have been merged with our universe. As a result, villains like Frieza, Marshall "Blackbeard" D. Teach or Dio Brando appeared on Earth. Venom destroy everything in their path. They will be opposed by the Jump Force organization headed by famous heroes: the pirate Luffy, the shinobi Naruto and the mighty Son Goku.
The main character of the story is an ordinary man who had the misfortune to hit the very center of the fight with Frieza. Mortally wounded, we are brought back to life thanks to a device known as the Umbra Cube, which also gives us special powers. Thanks to them, we can support Goku and the company in the fight against Venom. However, a much greater threat lurks in the shadows, responsible for the villains' invasion.
Jump Force is a three-dimensional fight in which we fight in large arenas. Before each clash, we choose three players, between whom we can switch during the duel. The game's premiere features 40 warriors from over a dozen manga and anime series, plus two characters created for the Jump Force. We can find Shonen Jump veterans like Son Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball, Luffy and Zoro from One Piece, Jotaro Kujo and Dio Brando from JoJo's Bizzare Adventures, but there were also representatives of younger series like My Hero Academia or Black Clover. Dai from the manga adaptation of the Dragon Quest series also got into the game.
The fight is mainly based on two buttons responsible for light and strong attacks, with standard additions like throws and guards. In addition to this typical scheme, there are, among others, escape (after being hit by an enemy, you are thrown back to a certain distance, which allows you to break free from the blows), combined attacks with the use of the entire team of warriors and a charge that allows you to quickly approach the opponent. Each of these techniques has its own strengths and weaknesses, which forces you to use all available options.
In addition, the game has implemented the so-called Awakening - powerful powers, different for each hero. To use them, it is necessary to fill in a special bar, which allows you to activate "Awakening" - which strengthens our character, but also reduces the bar. Moreover, if we still have at least half of the maximum energy, we can take advantage of the spectacular final attack.
Our adventure with Jump Force begins with the story mode, in which we lead the character we created through the chapters of the campaign. During it, we perform missions for which we gain experience and gold, developing both our avatar and the warriors who help him. The game also allows you to play loose clashes with artificial intelligence or other players, both on a shared or split screen, as well as in online duels. In the latter case, we also have access to ranking matches.
The creators of Jump Force used the popular Unreal Engine 4 technology, thanks to which the game offers high-quality visuals, with faithfully reproduced locations (both real and straight from the manga). The creators also tried to maintain the style characteristic of the works from which they were created when creating character models. Moreover, the heroes speak with the voices of the actors from the original anime series (so-called seiyu), and the special attacks are based on the iconic techniques of individual heroes and villains.
