Betterbuxus Renaissance, Blight Resistant Box Renaissance

Betterbuxus Renaissance, Blight Resistant Box Renaissance

Betterbuxus Renaissance is a new blight-resistant evergreen box hybrid with compact branches and small glossy leaves.A decade of research from Belgian breeder Herplant has led to the development of four new blight-resistant box hybrids. The hybrids are named Betterbuxus with individual varieties Renaissance, Babylon Beauty, Heritage, and Skylight.Betterbuxus Renaissance is much like the traditional box we all know but is more compact. It has tiny year-round dark green leaves and needs very little pruning due to its slow growth habit. New spring growth is paler but slowly matures to a darker green and is sometimes followed by small cream flowers. This new variety of blight-resistant box is a great choice for topiary, low growing hedges, dividing parterres, and patio containers in blight-hit areas.Height and Spread of Betterbuxus RenaissanceBlight Resistant Box Renaissance is slow-growing and can be kept at whatever height and spread you choose with a yearly prune. How Hardy Is Betterbuxus RenaissanceBuxus can withstand UK winters and sub-zero temperatures if the roots are well-drained. Blight resistant box Renaissance also withstands some box tree caterpillar attack, growing back fresh green growth after an infestation has been dealt with. How To Use Betterbuxus RenaissanceThese plants thrive as border and container plants. Because blight resistant box Renaissance is slow-growing and especially compact it suits low-growing hedging, low maintenance gardens, and well-watered containers of topiary. How To Care For Betterbuxus RenaissanceRenaissance will grow in all types of soil, including sandy soils, and will tolerate partial shade. It’s slow-growing nature means a once yearly trim is enough to keep it in shape.Natural blight resistance means fungal treatments are not required, but you should water during dry spells, feed each year with a specialist box feed, and mulch the roots in spring to encourage healthy growth.

Hydrangea Paniculata Wim's Red Buy Online UK Delivery

Hydrangea Paniculata Wim's Red is a new and unusual variety of Hydrangea. Prolific white flowers gradually turn to a deep wine red colour as the flowers mature. Spiraea Cinerea Grefsheim. Spirea Grefsheim White Flowering

Spiraea Cinerea Grefsheim. Spirea Grefsheim White Flowering

Spiraea cinerea Grefsheim, also known as Spirea Grefsheim, is a deciduous flowering shrub, best known for its profusion of white flowers in the spring. Robust and resilient, this compact, ornamental shrub is ideal for small gardens. A white flower variety of Spiraea, Grefsheim is most striking in the spring, when it is completely enveloped by tiny blossoms. Dainty, pure white flowers with yellow centers are borne in clusters, and they completely cover this compact shrub, attracting bees and butterflies to your garden. During summer and autumn, the greyish-green, lanceolate leaves offer interest, densely amassed on arching branches. In the autumn, the foliage turns to copper and yellow. Apart from most extreme conditions, it would be impossible to find a garden in which Spirea Grefsheim won’t thrive. This deciduous flowering shrub can grow on almost any type of soil, as long as it is moist and well-drained, including chalk and sand. Although it fares well in partial shade, this deciduous shrub flowers more profusely when planted in full sun. Highly tolerant of urban pollution, this variety of Spiraea a great choice for urban or inner city gardens.A hybrid of Norwegian origin, Spirea Grefsheim is pest and disease free, and can survive temperatures as low as -20 degrees. Fully hardy in Britain and Ireland, this flowering shrub is also the recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by Royal Horticultural Society.  Generally considered low-maintenance, this compact shrub with a bushy habit requires little pruning. Spirea Grefsheim forms an elegant mound naturally, 1 to 1.5 metres tall and wide. Since it is not invasive, you should only remove dead or damaged growth, after the flowering season ends. When pruning, avoid cutting upper branches and focus on the old growth near the ground, to keep the arching form of branches intact. The showy blossoms make Spirea Grefsheim ideal for flowering shrub borders with spring interest, or, when planted en masse, an ornamental, low-growing border for small gardens. Since it is quite compact and doesn’t mind partial shade, this deciduous shrub also works well for underplanting trees or as a front-row plant. Perfect as a ground-cover plant, this small flowering shrub can be used to cloak less attractive parts of your garden.

Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia Laurel Instant Hedging Screens

Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia Laurel Instant Hedging Screens

Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia Laurel Instant Hedging ScreensThis new evergreen cherry laurel hybrid is a product of the Genolier Arboretum in Switzerland and is known to be particularly hardy. Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia (also known as Cherry Laurel Genolia or simply Genolia Laurel) has a narrow upright or fastigiate growth habit which is ideal where a tall dense hedging screen is required. These particular Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia plants have been nurtured and grown in rows of 5 or 6 plants and have been trained on a bamboo frame to maximise the screening effect. We refer to them as Instant Hedging Screens as they provide immediate privacy. These instant hedging screens are perfect when you want an instant hedging screen in a hurry. They are also very useful for narrow spaces as the row of plants is not overly wide. The Genolia Laurel is a fast-growing. When mature, these hedging screen generally stands 5 to 10 meters with a spread of only about 80 centimetres wide. The wonderfully slim, upright growth patterns of the Genolia Laurel are very strict from youth to maturity, which means that the hedge rarely requires clipping to maintain its appearance. That said, Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia will tolerate pruning well. Even when coppiced to almost ground level, it will still regrow with a strong upright habit. The stems and branches of the shrub are tough and do not readily break which makes it a good choice to stand up to wind. The evergreen foliage of the Genolia Laurel is eye-catching. The dark green leaves are elongated, somewhat narrow and glossy. When a leaf is crushed it releases the aroma of almonds. Flower buds appear on the shrub in the autumn months and winter, however, they do not open until late spring or early summer. The shrub produces fragrant white flowers that form large clusters. The flowers are a favourite of bees and butterflies. Following flowering, a limited number of red cherry-like fruits form that are generally rapidly consumed by songbirds and other woodland creatures. However, if the berries persist into autumn they turn a dark, blackish shade. These exceptionally tough Prunus Laurocerasus Genolia Hedging Screens grow in virtually any well-draining soil. They tolerates full sun or partial shade. This hardy hedging screen has the ability to cope with temperature extremes such as hot summers and snowy winters. During its first year of growth, it should be kept evenly moist to encourage root formation. However, once established, your hedging screen should withstand short periods of drought. The Genolia Laurel is an excellent, virtually carefree shrub to produce instant privacy screens quickly and effectively. Once established, it will quickly form a medium to tall hedge that provides year-round privacy.
