Rhododendron Marcel Meynard (or Menard)Rhododendron Marcel Meynard, or to give it its full botanical name, Rhododendron Monsieur Marcel Méynard is a showy evergreen cultivar that belongs to the family of larger Elepidote Hybrids. Larger Elepidote hybrids are what we would normally think of as typical rhododendrons: they are characterised by their medium to large size and spectacular flowers borne on large trusses.Rhododendron Marcel Menard boasts masses of deep purple-violet blossoms with greenish speckles at the throat. Flowers are produced in trusses up to 15. This variety is a late flowerer, so you can expect the beautiful blossoms to appear on the shrub around May or June, depending on the climate. The small, dark green leaves will provide a perfect backdrop for the profusion of showy flowers. As a testament to its great qualities and optimal performance in the United Kingdom, Rhododendron Marcel Menard won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) by the Royal Horticultural Society.Height and Spread of Rhododendron Marcel MeynardA medium to large evergreen hybrid with a moderate growth rate, Rhododendron Marcel Menard can achieve a maximum height of up to 4 metres. How Hardy is Rhododendron Marcel Meynard?Tough and adaptable, Rhododendron Marcel Menard is fully hardy in all of the United Kingdom and even northern Europe. This evergreen shrub can withstand temperatures up to -20 degrees Celsius. How To Use Rhododendron Marcel MeynardRhododendrons make a great addition to any garden: easy to grow and to care for, they add visual interest without asking much in return. Rhododendron Marcel Menard will make an excellent lawn specimen when planted on its own, and add a burst of colour in late spring when included in a mixed shrub border. How To Care For Rhododendron Marcel MeynardVersatile and undemanding, Rhododendron Marcel Menard will be no more challenging to grow than any other rhododendron. Berberis Frikartii Amstelveen Barberry Evergreen Berberis

Berberis Frikartii Amstelveen  Barberry is an evergreen flowering shrub, prized for its highly decorative features and exceptional hardiness. Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm Coneflower Echinacea Yellow Storm

Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm Coneflower Echinacea Yellow Storm

Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm, also known as Echinacea Yellow Storm, or Coneflower Goldsturm, is instantly recognisable as the tall golden clump of daisy-like blooms brightening up a garden in late summer. Coneflower Goldsturm is an herbaceous perennial that will flower from August to October. Its dark green ovate foliage appears lush and fresh before developing a crown of golden yellow flowers that have orange to dark-brown eyes. Each bloom measures up to 12 centimetres across and attracts a variety of pollinators.  The RHS have given Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm the Award of Garden Merit AGM and it is popular with gardeners and flower arrangers for the strong colour. Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm is fully hardy in the UK, withstanding frosts and snow before it re-shoots in spring. If its roots are keep out of water-logged soil, it will re-shoot for many years. Unlike some perennials, Goldsturm’s yellow blooms can withstand the summer rain and wind. Echinacea Yellow Storm will grow to a maximum of half to one metre and spread across the same distance within two to three years depending on the soil quality. Plant a clump in amongst tall grasses for a wild meadow effect or pack in with other late summer perennials to finish off the growing season with a bang. They look best in drifts, and clumping several along the length of your flower border will stretch the eye, giving the illusion of more space. You can plant Echinacea Yellow Storm in a container too, but do make sure it doesn’t dry out. Cut flower arrangements benefit from Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm because they last well after cutting and give a bright boost to an arrangement. They also dry well for craft projects with dried flowers or for dried flower arrangements. Coneflower Goldsturm resembles a mini sunflower, but requires much less care. The erect stems do not need stakes and the foliage is not particularly attractive to snails. Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm prefers a well-drained but moist soil of any pH. It will grow best in clay, chalk or loam soils, but will manage in most spots if it does not dry out. A sunny spot is preferential, lighting up the golden flowers, but Coneflower Goldsturm has a tolerant habit, and it will thrive in partial shade too. If you deadhead any spent blooms they will repeat flower throughout August and October, often lasting until the first frosts. During the winter you can remove dead foliage ready for the next season’s growth.
