Hornbeam Hedge Plants Carpinus Betulus Hedging Buy Online UK

Hornbeam Hedge Plants Carpinus Betulus Hedging Buy Online UK

Hornbeam Hedge or Carpinus Betulus HedgingCarpinus Betulus or Common Hornbeam is an indigenous tree species in Britain and is one of the finest of our native hedging plants.Dense and fast growing, Carlinus Betulus is particularly suited to shaping, trimming and creating espaliers or clear stem trees. It is hardly surprising then that it makes an excellent hedge. Hornbeam hedges, although considered similar and often compared to Beech Hedging, are in our opinion  infinitely superior plants for hedging. Hornbeams have beautiful vibrant green foliage in spring and although they are deciduous, with a summer trim the leaves will change to a beautiful tawny yellow colour in autumn and in all but the harshest winters will remain on the stems creating a lovely golden coloured hedge throughout the winter months. In the winter season we also have hornbeam hedge plants available in bare root form. Historically Hornbeam was one of the UK's most treasured trees - creating incredibly tough wood, hornbeam was prized for many, many uses including creating tools, for fuel and for making excellent charcoal. With legendary hardiness, a Hornbeam hedge will grow in most well drained, moist soils and will happily grow in partial shade, although will be most luscious and fast growing in full sun. We have many sizes of Carpinus Betulus Hedging available from just under 1 metre tall (excluding the pot) to our square columns standing up to 3 metres tall for those in need of instant screening. For mixed beech and hornbeam hedging, see also Fagus Sylvatica Common Beech for hedging.

Geranium Johnsons Blue. Cranesbill Johnsons Blue For Sale UK

Geranium Johnson’s Blue is deciduous hardy geranium with masses of lavender-blue flowers in spring and summer. This floweing perennial is a good choice for low-maintenance gardens and creates thick ground cover in the summer months.Hardy geraniums grow in all temperate areas of the world. They are hardy, palmate perennials with seed heads that resemble a crane’s bill – which gives geranium its alternative name of Cranesbill. Hardy geraniums should not be confused with fleshy-leaved geraniums or pelargoniums that are often used as summer bedding flowers. The geranium cultivar Johnsons Blue is an established variety raised in the 1950s. It’s a former holder of the RHS AGM and holds the Perfect for Pollinators badge. The palmate mid-green foliage emerges in spring and is quickly followed by 5 cm wide stunning lavender-blue flowers with a red tinge at the centre. As they fade, the flowers turn pearly grey. This deciduous perennial is best left to spread via its rhizomes in a wildlife-friendly low-maintenance border.  Height And Spread of Geranium Johnson’s BlueLow-growing Cranesbill Johnsons Blue will reach a height of 50 cms and spread over a metre within 5 years. How Hardy is Geranium Johnson’s BlueThis hardy geranium withstands minus temperatures if the roots are well-drained and it enjoys full sun. Hebe Green Globe or Shrubby Veronica Green Globe for Sale

Hebe Green Globe or Shrubby Veronica Green Globe for Sale

Hebe Green Globe or Shrubby Veronica Green Globe, also known as Hebe Emerald GreenHebe Green Globe is an ornamental shrub also known as Shrubby Veronica Green Globe. It’s an attractive yet tough evergreen plant that can withstand windy, coastal conditions. Hebe Green Globe is principally admired for its vivid moss green foliage. Its branches are smothered in tiny, dense upward-pointing leaves all year round and small white flowers usually appear in midsummer. Hebe shrubs are not generally grown for their flowers but the delicate blooms of Green Globe are very pretty and enhance the green foliage. Hebe Green Globe will grow to 25 - 30 centimetres tall and can spread up to 150 centimetres wide. If you clip it regularly Hebe Emerald Green Globe will resemble a tightly-packed ball of fresh green growth. How Hardy Is Hebe Green Globe?Green Globe is hardy throughout the UK withstanding frosts and snow. Once established it will tolerate dry, exposed areas and cope with windy conditions too. Hebe Green Globe will grow in most soils conditions thriving in sandy, chalky, clay soils of any ph provided it is not water-logged.How To Use Hebe Green GlobeShrubby Veronica Green Globe is often over-looked which is a shame because it is incredibly useful to those needing garden structure. It naturally grows in a small compact form, but can be clipped into neat balls or planted as a low height hedge as an alternative to box or yew. Flower gardeners should not dismiss Green Globe because its vivid colour and understated flowers are the perfect foil for bright showy blooms. This gives balance to a chaotic flower border filled with clashing colours. They also make excellent mess-free ground cover that suppresses weeds and deters cats.Because of its compact size Shrubby Veronica Green Globe is a great addition to a rock garden. Their structural shapes lift the height, providing much needed variety to ground-height rockery areas. A popular way to grow Hebe Green Globe is in a container. Hebes thrive in well-watered containers creating architectural ‘pillars’ on either side of a door, garden path or even a birdbath. How To Care For Hebe Green GlobeMulch hebe each year to conserve nutrients, but there is no need to regularly feed them as it can cause the branches to go floppy. There is no need to prune such a small plant either, but if yours becomes unruly and untidy, cut back its branches after flowering - if you prune them in spring your Hebe Green Globe may not flower. Shrubby Veronica Green Globe provides essential structural framework in a small garden or flower border and sits extremely well in a rockery. If you’re looking for year round colour and enjoy low maintenance planting then Hebe Green Globe is an attractive yet sensible choice.
