Lyngby-Taarbæk – Flere fragmenter - Morten Ehrhorn - Bog - Ehrhorn Hummerston - Plusbog.dk

The Hottest Girl at Burn Camp - Krystal Evans - Bog - Octopus Publishing Group - Plusbog.dk

''Krystal Evans is a born writer - from the first page you know you are in the hands of someone who knows what the hell she''s doing. This a wonderful book: funny, heart breaking, beautifully paced - I don''t expect to read a better memoir for a very long time.'' ROBERT WEBB, author of How Not To Be A Boy ''Funny and heart breaking in equal measure, Krystal''s cool, clear voice cuts through the noise of growing up in chaos'' FERN BRADY, author of Strong Female Character ''The guiltiest of literary pleasures: a memoir that you open with trepidation and stay up til 6am to finish'' KATE SPICER, author of Lost Dog . ''Krystal''s writing is compelling, edgy and always hilarious. Hottest Girl At Burn Camp is so much more than your average comedian''s memoir. Absolutely essential reading.'' JOSIE LONG When Krystal Evans was 14, the house that she shared with her mother and little sister burned down. Narrowly escaping by breaking a window and jumping out head-first Krystal suffered burns, smoke inhalation, and the unimaginable tragedy of losing her sister. That Evans has written such a warm and disarmingly funny memoir about what led the family to that fatal night, and how they coped with its aftermath, is nothing less than astonishing. This is a spellbinding story of growing up poor in America, living with a mentally ill mother, and having a wolf for a pet (really). From the indignities of being rejected from a summer camp for burn victims, to putting up with a succession of her mom''s increasingly shady friends and partners, Krystal and Katie''s childhoods were marked by adult chaos, inappropriate behaviour, and never knowing what the next day would bring. But, writing with joy, skill and candour, we witness Krystal growing as a person from the ashes of disaster into the confident, funny, and (reasonably) well-hinged adult, mother and comedian that she is today. At the same time, funny, tragic and inspiring, it is the story of a family dangerously close to the edge, and of a girl struggling to make her way into adulthood, once the smoke clears.

'Funny and heart breaking in equal measure, Krystal's cool, clear voice cuts through the noise of growing up in chaos' FERN BRADY, author of Strong Female Character 'The guiltiest of literary pleasures: a memoir that you open with trepidation and stay up til 6am to finish' KATE SPICER, author of Lost Dog . 'Krystal's writing is compelling, edgy and always hilarious. Hottest Girl At Burn Camp is so much more than your average comedian's memoir. Absolutely essential reading.' JOSIE LONG When Krystal Evans was 14, the house that she shared with her mother and little sister burned down. Krystal narrowly escaped by breaking a window and jumping out head-first; suffering burns, smoke inhalation, PTSD - and the unimaginable tragedy of losing her six year-old sister. But horrific as events were, the account of what led the family to that fatal night, and how they coped with its aftermath, is a richer and more complex story. Writing with skill and candour to find light in the darkest of places, this is Krystal Evans' story of growing up poor in America, living with a mentally ill mother, and having a wolf for a pet (really). From the indignities of being rejected from 'burn camp' for being 'too attractive', to putting up with a succession of her mom's increasingly dangerous and shady friends and partners, Krystal and Katie's childhoods were marked by adult chaos, inappropriate behaviour, and never knowing what the next day would bring. The Hottest Girl At Burn Camp is Krystal's story of how she grew from the ashes of disaster into the confident, funny, and (reasonably) well-hinged adult, mother and comedian that she is today. At the same time, funny, tragic and inspiring, it is the story of a family dangerously close to the edge, and of a girl struggling to make her way into adulthood, once the smoke clears.

Except When I Write - Arthur Krystal - Bog - Oxford University Press Inc - Plusbog.dk

From Montaigne in the sixteenth century to Orwell, Eliot, and Trilling in the twentieth, the best literary essayists combine a gift for observation with an abiding commitment to books. Although it may seem that books are becoming less essential and that a revolution in sensibility is taking place, the essays of Arthur Krystal suggest otherwise. Companionable without being chummy, engaged without being didactic, erudite without being stuffy, he demonstrates that literature, even in the digital age, remains the truest expression of the human condition.Covering subjects as diverse as aphorisms, dueling, the night, and the 1960s, the essays gathered here offer the common reader uncommon pleasure. In prose that is both vibrant and elegant, Krystal negotiates among myriad subjects-from historical writing as exemplified by Jacques Barzun to the art of screenwriting as not so happily represented by F. Scott Fitzgerald. His cardinal rule as a writer? William Hazlitt''s "Confound it, man, don''t be insipid." No fear of that. Except When I Write is thoughtful in the most joyful sense--brimming with ideas in order to give us the flow and cadence of someone actually thinking.Keenly observant and death on pretension, Krystal examines the world of books without ever losing sight of the world beyond them. Literature may be the bedrock on which these essays rest, but as F. R. Leavis aptly noted, "One cannot seriously be interested in literature and remain purely literary in interests." Except When I Write is a reminder of both the pleasure and the power of a well-tuned essay.

Expressive Therapeutic Writing - Krystal Leah Demaine - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

This book brings engagement and conversation to a cross‑pollination of creative and expressive writing and multi‑modal art forms. Through the lens of expressive arts therapy, the authors demonstrate how writing can reveal the unexpected that emerges from art making. The lineage of expressive arts therapy includes artful writing, poetry, associative, creative, and memoir, for example, to engage in self‑discovery, growth, and restorative care. Each chapter is grounded in intermodal expressive arts with a central focus on creative and expressive writing, which is informed by movement, visual art, storytelling, music, sound, photography, and physical performance, including response art, and has writing prompts and invitations as well as playful and improvisational integrative arts writing explorations. Creative arts therapists and expressive therapists actively searching for creative playful self‑reflective writing practice will find this book a rewarding resource. Krystal Leah Demaine, PhD, MT‑BC, REAT, CTRS‑C, RYT , music therapist, expressive arts therapist, and professor of expressive therapies at Endicott College, practices HEARTful healing note by note through song, story, poetry, and creative curiosity. Tamar Reva Einstein, PhD, REAT , expressive arts therapist, poet/artist, and teacher, crosses cultural borders in Jerusalem with the arts as her mother tongue, threading writing and arts like her threaded beads and amulets.

The Davenports - Krystal Marquis - Bog - Penguin Group USA - Plusbog.dk

*Instant New York Times Bestseller* The Davenports delivers a totally escapist, swoon-worthy romance while offering a glimpse into a period of African American history often overlooked."A fresh, utterly enchanting read.” —Ayana Gray, New York Times bestselling author of the Beasts of Prey trilogy The Davenports are one of the few Black families of immense wealth and status in a changing United States, their fortune made through the entrepreneurship of William Davenport, a formerly enslaved man who founded the Davenport Carriage Company years ago. Now it''s 1910, and the Davenports live surrounded by servants, crystal chandeliers, and endless parties, finding their way and finding love—even where they’re not supposed to.There is Olivia , the beautiful elder Davenport daughter, ready to do her duty by getting married . . . until she meets the charismatic civil rights leader Washington DeWight and sparks fly. The younger daughter, Helen , is more interested in fixing cars than falling in love—unless it’s with her sister’s suitor. Amy-Rose , the childhood friend turned maid to the Davenport sisters, dreams of opening her own business—and marrying the one man she could never be with, Olivia and Helen’s brother, John. But Olivia’s best friend, Ruby , also has her sights set on John Davenport, though she can’t seem to keep his interest . . . until family pressure has her scheming to win his heart, just as someone else wins hers.Inspired by the real-life story of the Patterson family, The Davenports is the tale of four determined and passionate young Black women discovering the courage to steer their own path in life—and love.
