Multi-Label Dimensionality Reduction - Jieping (arizona State University Ye - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

Multi-Label Dimensionality Reduction - Jieping (arizona State University Ye - Bog - Taylor & Francis Inc - Plusbog.dk

Similar to other data mining and machine learning tasks, multi-label learning suffers from dimensionality. An effective way to mitigate this problem is through dimensionality reduction, which extracts a small number of features by removing irrelevant, redundant, and noisy information. The data mining and machine learning literature currently lacks a unified treatment of multi-label dimensionality reduction that incorporates both algorithmic developments and applications. Addressing this shortfall, Multi-Label Dimensionality Reduction covers the methodological developments, theoretical properties, computational aspects, and applications of many multi-label dimensionality reduction algorithms. It explores numerous research questions, including: - - How to fully exploit label correlations for effective dimensionality reduction - How to scale dimensionality reduction algorithms to large-scale problems - How to effectively combine dimensionality reduction with classification - How to derive sparse dimensionality reduction algorithms to enhance model interpretability - How to perform multi-label dimensionality reduction effectively in practical applications - The authors emphasize their extensive work on dimensionality reduction for multi-label learning. Using a case study of Drosophila gene expression pattern image annotation, they demonstrate how to apply multi-label dimensionality reduction algorithms to solve real-world problems. A supplementary website provides a MATLAB ® package for implementing popular dimensionality reduction algorithms.

The Law of Off-label Uses of Medicines - Andrea Parziale - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

The Law of Off-label Uses of Medicines - Andrea Parziale - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

This book examines the regulatory framework for untested and unapproved uses (off-label uses) of medicines in the EU, UK, and USA. Before reaching patients, medicines are extensively tested by manufacturers and approved by regulators to minimise the risk of adverse reactions. However, physicians can prescribe pharmaceuticals for off-label uses, widespread in paediatrics, oncology, rare diseases and, more recently, in treatment for Covid-19. While off-label uses may offer hope, they may also expose patients to risks and uncertainties. Clarification is therefore needed to improve the protection of patients'' rights while enhancing legal certainty for health actors. To this end, this work clarifies the regulatory mechanisms and litigation trends concerning off-licence prescriptions in these jurisdictions. It assesses how traditional, prevention-driven regulatory and civil liability rules are being adapted to tackle potential risks and scientific uncertainty. The book outlines the applicable regulations, as well as considering Brexit’s impact on off-label policies in the UK, and EU and national off-label policies in the context of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. It also explores under what conditions physicians, manufacturers, or regulators must compensate patients injured by untested prescriptions. The book will be an essential resource for researchers, academics and policy-makers working in the areas of medical law and ethics, public health law, pharmaceutical law and private comparative law.

Spin-Label Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy - Derek Marsh - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Spin-Label Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy - Derek Marsh - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Spin-label electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy is a versatile molecular probe method that finds wide application in molecular biophysics and structural biology. This book provides the first comprehensive summary of basic principles, spectroscopic properties, and use for studying biological membranes, protein folding, supramolecular structure, lipid-protein interactions, and dynamics. The contents begin with discussion of fundamental theory and practice, including static spectral parameters and conventional continuous-wave (CW) spectroscopy. The development then progresses, via nonlinear CW-EPR for slower motions, to the more demanding time-resolved pulse EPR, and includes an in-depth treatment of spin relaxation and spectral line shapes. Once the spectroscopic fundamentals are established, the final chapters acquire a more applied character. Extensive appendices at the end of the book provide detailed summaries of key concepts in magnetic resonance and chemical physics for the student reader and experienced practitioner alike. Key Features: - Indispensable reference source for the understanding and interpretation of spin-label spectroscopic data in its different aspects. Tables of fundamental spectral parameters are included throughout. - Forms the basis for an EPR graduate course, extending up to a thorough coverage of advanced topics in Specialist Appendices. Includes all necessary theoretical background. The primary audience is research workers in the fields of molecular biophysics, structural biology, biophysical chemistry, physical biochemistry and molecular biomedicine. Also, physical chemists, polymer physicists, and liquid-crystal researchers will benefit from this book, although illustrative examples used are often taken from the biomolecular field. Readers will be postgraduate researchers and above, but include those from other disciplines who seek to understand the primary spin-label EPR literature.

How to Run an Indie Label - Alan Mcgee - Bog - Rare Bird Books - Plusbog.dk

How to Run an Indie Label - Alan Mcgee - Bog - Rare Bird Books - Plusbog.dk

How To Run an Indie Label tells you everything you need to know about how to be a creative force. Music is like no other business. It’s about being at the right place at the right time, following your nose and diving in feet first. It’s about being plugged into the mystical electricity and about surfing on the wild energy. It’s about how to fuck up and how to survive and be sustained by the holy grail of the high decibel. No-one captures this wild feral spirit better than Alan McGee whose helter skelter career through music has made him a major force. Wilder than his bands, more out of control than his most lunatic singer, more driven than his contemporaries and closer in spirit to the rock n roll star he could never be himself, McGee was always in a rush. Creation would sign people and not just the music. McGee understood that running an indie label is mainly about the charisma, the game changers, the iconography and the story. It’s about never being boring. His ability to start a raw power ruckus brought the visceral danger back to a moribund mid-eighties music scene. His nose for danger and his ear for classic guitar rock n roll brought us Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Teenage Fan Club and Ride before topping out in the nineties with the biggest band in the world, Oasis. By no means a conventional instruction manual or business book How To Run an Indie Label tells you everything you need to know about how to be a creative force.
