And the colour – that's up to you. Find one that matches your project, choose one that offers a subtle shade difference, or go all out on contrast and pick one (or several!) that stands out and draws attention. When sewing the bias tape onto your project, stitch in straight stitches with a stitch length of about 2.5 cm. While you're sewing, don't pull or stretch it. Let it align naturally along the edge, ensuring a neat finish.     TIP  When you start sewing on your bias tape, fold about 2 cm inwards so it's double-layered. When finishing, tuck the other end's fold over your folded start. The same principle applies when extending bias tape.

Create your unique textiles with batik dying. Batik textile dyes are best used on cotton, viscose, linen, half panama, silk, wool, or polyamide. The screw-cap container contains 70 g of dye powder. Take what you need, mix it in accordance with the instructions, and save the rest for later. The more pigment you add, the stronger your colours become. Use 70 g of dye powder per 200g of fabric for strong colouration. Use 70 grs of poweder per 400 g of fabric for a less intense colouration. This batik textile dye paint is suitable for various dyeing techniques, e.g. tie-dye and dip-dye. Always wash the fabric before starting to paint. Fill a bucket or tub with very hot water (95°C), enough to cover your fabric. Add your dye and stir until completely dissolved. Then immerse the damp fabric in the colour bath. NB: Make sure that the dye is completely dissolved before you add the fabric. If not, the results will be spotty or uneven. Leave the fabric to soak for no more than one hour . Rinse your fabric with hot water. Batik dyes do not tolerate high temperatures. Wash your dyed fabric at max 40°C. Wash separately the first time. NB: To enhance the colours and prevent them for wearing off, we recommend you use our Javana fixing agent. Without fixing agent, the dyes will soon wash out.

Baby velvet with beautiful patternsSometimes a pattern is that little extra something to give your design the finishing touch. Here you get both the delicious baby wing AND a lovely pattern - what more could you wish for?  Use it for cute little baby and children's outfits - for little trousers, spencer jackets and outerwar. It's so pretty and goes perfectly with a plain coloured t-shirt, for example. Much more velvetVelvet is a durable 100% cotton material. It is softly woven with short nap and therefore very suitable for sewing clothes for playful children. The fabric has 21 wales and thus the finest narrow ridges that repeat stringently across the fabric. And yes - it's even added the cool pattern for extra details - it's really loveable. Baby velvet is sold by the metre, so simply order the length you need. The width is 140 cm and the fabric shrinks about 6% in the wash. Remember to use the right needles - we recommend a size 80 universal needle.  What is Wales? Wales indicates the width of the raised ridges in the velvet that defines the velvety texture of the fabric. A low Wales indicates wide ridges i.e. less ridges per inch. On the other hand, a high Wales indicates narrow ridges.
