Rage is not an ordinary traditional representative of the first-person shooter genre, although it is undoubtedly its most important element. The game is a mix of a typical id Software shooter with car racing on an asteroid ruined by the impact of the Earth. The post-apocalyptic atmosphere is reminiscent of the classic action movie Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior . As in the movie with Mel Gibson in the lead role, the main means of transport and the most important good in Rage is a properly modified vehicle, adapted to overcome treacherous wilderness. During the adventure lasting about ten hours, you can get a total of four vehicles, differing in performance and the number of weapon slots.
Gameplay
The main character of the game, described by the creators themselves as an individual of the class of Buck Rogers (a hero from the pages of American comics), comes from the Ark - one of the special shelters that allowed carefully selected Earthlings to survive the cataclysm. Forced to go outside, he quickly fraternizes with the survivors of the pogrom trying to survive in a new dangerous reality. Mutants, bandits and the military regime known as the Authority are the main opponents of the hero who, whether he likes it or not, stands up to fight for a better tomorrow. The game is a depleted sandbox, and the gameplay focuses on completing short, not too complicated missions. Vehicles play an important role during the struggle. With their help, you can quickly move from place to place, and also take part in a series of murderous races, the stake of which are certificates entitling you to buy car improvements. The game also features a crafting system that allows you to create useful gadgets based on the found schematics. The world in Rage is based on the new id Software engine (id Tech 5) and Virtual Texturing technology, which is an extended version of MegaTexture, used for the first time in Quake Wars: Enemy Territory.
