CastleStorm is a strategy based on the popular formula known from tower defense games. The producer of the title is the Hungarian Zen development studio, which has a dozen or so titles, such as Marvel Pinball, Zen Pinball, The Punisher: No Mercy or Planet Minigolf, which hit the most important hardware platforms.The CastleStorm action takes place in the fantastic Middle Ages, and players take on the role of a fortress administrator belonging to one of the two available factions - Vikings or Knights. During the game, we have to defend the fortress, at the same time trying to eliminate the enemy's forces and take or destroy his castle. The main weapon in the game is the ballista placed on a high tower. It is the basis of our defense system. Its staff can load it with various missiles. In addition to standard shots, they also include apples, battle flails, grenades, aimed eagles and flying sheep. In addition, players have at their disposal many combat units that differ in speed, strength and special skills. These are, for example, knights, mages, ax throwers or priests who fight the invader and try to break through the gates of his fortress.The type of available units and their number depends on our castle chambers, which act as recruitment points. We add new chambers during the game. The creators allowed us to design and expand the castle freely, but you need to remember to plan the layout of the rooms carefully, because they are extremely vulnerable to enemy fire.During the game, we gain new levels of experience, unlocking new units and upgrades. Each map presents us with several basic and optional tasks, the completion of which will bring us victory or additional prizes. So we can try to get the opponent's banner, destroy his fortress completely or fulfill other specific goals set by the creators. The choice is ours.CastleStorm allows you to play multiplayer. In cooperation mode, together with another overseer, we try to fight off an endless wave of attacks. In the duel mode, we face the enemy player, trying to stay alive and raze his fortress to the ground. We can play both on a split screen and via the Internet.
