Opihr Gin European Edition Aromatic Bitters For their European Edition, Opihr have taken inspiration from the 500 year Venitian history in the spice trade, and Italy's love of cascarilla bark (used to create highly aromatic tonic, bitters and vermouth's). Taking their Original oriental spiced gin,they have combined it with cascarilla bark and fragrant myrrh. This creates a bold and savoury-led spiced gin. Interesting Fact: While cascarilla bark is not native within Europe, it's present in many bitter liqueurs in the south of the continent and adds an aromatic and fragrant twist to Opihr's flavour profile. It's aroma is bold, savoury-led with a balanced burnt orange and bitter note. These are complimented by soft perfume notes with a mature rounded orange note and a woody, earthy finish. Hayman's Royal Dock Gin In 1863 when James Burrough, opened a small distillery in Chelsea, London. The current Master Distiller of Hayman's (Christopher Hayman) is the great grandson of James Burrough. Their Royal Dock Gin (their Navy Strength Gin), was first supplied to the English Admiralty in 1863. As this is a stronger gin, bottled at 57% it's bracing, yet smooth and bright. Martell VSOP Cognac Founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, the Martell Cognac house is the oldest of the 'big four' (the others being Courvoisier, Hennessy, and Rémy Martin).  Two marriages occured between the Martell and Hennessy families. This led to certain strategic decisions being made between the companies (this practise ceased in 1947). One of these decisions was fintroducing the star grading system at the same time. Interesting Fact: Variations of the Martell logo, a swift in combination with the Martell family coat of arms, have been in use since the company started. WIth their VSOP they maintain the typical Martell style. They age their blend of eaux-de-vie exclusively in barrels of fine-grained oak, which encourages the development of exquisite and lucious fruity aromas. The youngest of the eaux-de-vie's has a minimum age of 4 years.  The resulting cognac has a warm copper colour to it. The aroma is intense, with ripe yellow fruits (mirabelle plums, greengagse, apricots and vine peaches) coming through particularly strong. On the palate this is an elegant and exceptionally well-balanced cognac. Copperhead Black Batch Gin Mr. Copperhead constantly looks to evolve, and improve on his family of Gins. Inspired by alchemical heritage, he is still searching for the ‘the Elixir of Life’. This evolution led to the Black Batch, and we're really glad it did! Through his studies, he learnt of the 'miraculous' elder tree and the tales of witchcraft and life prolongation which surround it. To stimulate the immune system, the gin has the pitch black berries of the Sambucus Nigra shrub added (these are more commonly known as elder berries... you may have heard of them!). This base is then carefully balanced out with the Black Ceylon tea In the concoction of this variation, the 5 original Copperhead botanicals (juniper berries, cardamom, angelica, coriander seeds and orange zest) are used, and enhanced with Black Ceylon tea and the elderberry. This variation of the Copperhead Original Gin recipe will really surprise your senses. Welcome to the delicious, darker side of gin. The current Master Distiller of Hayman's (Christopher Hayman) is the great grandson of James Burrough. For their Gently Rested Gin Hayman's looks again to history. Gin always used to be rested in casks during the Gin Palace heyday of the 1800's, and so again Hayman's repeats history and uses old Scotch Whisky barrels to rest their gin in for a period of three weeks. The result of this short (gentle) resting period lifts the botanical flavours in the gin, enhancing the peppery spice notes.  The result is a really smooth, well-rounded balanced gin. It has peppery and spicy notes from the dominant botanicals – juniper and coriander – which add to its full-flavoured individuality. Bareksten Old Tom Gin Produced by Oss Craft Distillery in Norway, Bareksten Old Tom Gin, like the rest of the Bareksten family, has been made to represent the true essence of Norway. It is dark, wild, breathtaking and dramatic in the look of the bottle, the aromas as you open it, and the taste when you drink it.  Bareksten takes its inspiration from the Norwegian Forests. The long days of sunlight in the summer, combined with ample rain and warm weather ensure perfect growing conditions for a number of herbs and berries. These Nordic, natural and organic herbs, potatoes and berries form the basis for the unique flavour of Bareksten. Slightly sweeter than their Botanical Gin, the Old Tom Gin has more subtle nuances and doesn't overwhelm with the juniper influence. On those nose this is distinctly juniper led, with earthy aromas and floral hints.  The taste is full-bodied, with a pleasant spiciness to it. With a limited release of only 1.500 bottles, Hayman's English Cordial Gin is a gin crafted to reflect the style of gins enjoyed in the 1800's. Full of flavour, its warm, spicy with a herbal earthiness to it - it's smooth and perfect for the cooler months. The inspiration was found in old archives, which showed that Coridal Style gins were the most luxurious found at the time.  With such a limited release, grab a bottle whilst you can! Whitley Neill Quince Gin With a taste for adventure and discovery running through all eight generations of the Whitley Neill family tree it should come as no surprise that at the turn of the century, Frederick Neill found himself on a voyage through Persia. Here he discovered a whole range of exotic spices, herbs and fruit. These led to new inspirations to be added to the family gin collection. Discovering quince in the ancient mountains of the region, inspiration was found. Combining the tang of Turkish quince with a select mix of Persian herbs and spices makes Whitley Neill's Quince Gin something unique and quite special. Within this gin you are welcomed with the aroma of fresh stone fruits. These are followed shortly after with a gentle hints of juniper and citrus zest. Within the mouth, the distinctive flavour of quince dominates the palate - but this develops and introduced the sweetness of apricots and peaches. The finish is long, and exceptionally fruity - opening into orange blossom and zesty grapefruits. Truly a taste of Persia! Blacks Citrus Smash Gin Located on the Wild Atlantic Way (a scenic route in the south of Ireland), The Blacks Brewery was started in 2013. A family run company, it is owned and operated by Sam & Maudeline Black (hence the name!). Their ethos was to create (initially) beers which weren't mass market. They wanted products with passion and personality. In 2015 they decided to expand and added a state-of-the-art distillery which allowed them to produce spirits as well. Their first was gin, which was followed in 2018 with the first Irish Rum, and then in 2020 with whiskey. The inspiration for their Irish Gins come from their location as well, the picturesque and rugged Wild Atlantic Way. They wanted to create a range of modern Irish gins, which had a Wild Atlantic twist, as well as a delicious infusion of citrus and spice. The obvious solution was of course to create Amsterdam’s first tequila brand. LALA Tequila is made with 100% agave in the heart of the tequila region, in Jalisco, Mexico.
