J&B Rare Whisky The history behind J&B (Justerini & Brooks) goes back to 1749, when it was founded as a Fine Wine & Spirits merchant to supply the aristocratic houses of London. It even went on to supply every British Monarch since King George III in 1761. This, their J&B Rare Whisky first went on sale in 1933 following the end of prohibition in the US. The blend contains a total of 42 different single malt and grain whiskies from Scotland. These include distilleries like Knockando, Auchroisk and Glen Spey. Whilst the whisky was created with mixing in mind - it is most definitely versatile enough to be enjoyed neat, or on the rocks - with its smooth, fruity taste being enjoyed however you like. On the nose there are notes or orange zest and malt, with warming caramel, apples and walnuts. The palate is balanced, smooth and full of ripe fruit - with the malt and a delicate toffee sweetness. As the drink finishes, it remains exeptionally balanced - lingering, but not overly so to a medium finish with woody oak and a touch of cinnamon spice.  More from J&B Perfect Serve Whilst this is a whisky which is easily enjoyed on its own - we really liked this in a Whisky Ginger. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the whisky. Gently pour over 150ml of your favourite ginger ale (we liked it with Thomas Henry Ginger Ale). Stir gently and add a slice or wedge of lime.

J&B Rare Whisky De geschiedenis achter J&B (Justerini & Brooks) gaat terug tot 1749, toen het werd opgericht als handelaar in Fine Wine & Spirits om de aristocratische huizen van Londen te bevoorraden. Het leverde zelfs elke Britse monarch sinds koning George III in 1761. Dit, hun J&B Rare Whisky, werd voor het eerst op de markt gebracht in 1933 na het einde van het verbod in de VS. De blend bevat in totaal 42 verschillende single malt- en graanwhisky's uit Schotland. Deze omvatten distilleerderijen als Knockando, Auchroisk en Glen Spey. Giet er voorzichtig 150 ml van je favoriete ginger ale over (wij vonden het lekker met Thomas Henry Ginger Ale). Roer voorzichtig en voeg een schijfje of partje limoen toe.

The addition of the cranberry perfectly compliments and balances the salty and sweet flavors of samphire and sea lettuce. An absolutely intruiging combination - one which will have your taste buds working overtime to pick out the different and delicious flavours. You'll easily imagine yourself the island of origin; Vlieland. Perfect Serve Enjoy slowly, sipped over ice and with good conversation. The Isle of Wight Distillery take the ten ethically sourced botanicals used in the creation of Mermaid Gin, and add English Strawberries to make this delicious Pink Edition. To produce this, fresh Island strawberries, which are grown in the rich and fertile microclimate of the Arreton valley, are steeped in their Mermaid Gin for four days. It is then redistilled to create Mermaid Pink Gin, with its intensely aromatic, fresh flavour. Infusing fresh sun-kissed strawberries with their smooth yet complex gin creates a refreshingly layered serve, with a hint of sea air from fragrant rock samphire. The result is pleasantly aromatic and really refreshing. It's perfectly balanced, subtle yet vibrant, less sweet than most pink gins and with no added sugar. With their seaside inspired Zest Gin, the Isle of Wight Distillery have created a truly zest, aromatic gin. They have infused the original Mermaid Gin with summer fruits and wild, foraged coastal botanicals. Island bergamot, lemon zest and grapefruit give the gin its refreshing zest, whilst cascade hops and rosemary add additional depths of flavour. On the nose the grapefruit comes through, giving a bright and fresh note - which is joined with a gentle, piney juniper. The citrus and juniper come through on the palate as well, but are joined with a subtle sweetness and intruiging herbal notes. Garneer met een takje munt en een maraschino cherries en geniet ervan. Als je van een cocktail houdt, wat dacht je dan van een rijke en heerlijke Bananarumba. Omrand het glas eerst met gesmolten chocolade en giet vervolgens 35 ml Mermaid Spiced Rum, 20 ml bananenlikeur, 15 ml chocoladelikeur en 75 ml havermelk in een cocktailshaker met ijs. Mermaid Spiced Rum Presented in a stunning "fish-scale" like bottle with a cork stopper, this rum is hand-crafted on the Isle of Wight (a small island off the south coast of the UK).  Mermaid Spiced Rum is a carefully selected blend of sugar cane and molasses rum from Trinidad and the Dominican Republic which have been aged between 2-5 years in oak bourbon whiskey barrels. On its arrival into the distillery, the blend is infused with local fruits and spices found on the Isle of Wight. The botanicals include rock samphire, fresh white cherry and apricot, honey from their own beehives and black salt from their floodtides. It is gently spiced using local holy grass, cassia and vanilla, resulting in a smooth yet complex rum with a hint of sea air, delicate caramel notes and a vibrant fruity spice. Did you know? For a Mermaid Spiced Rum & Ginger, pour 50ml rum into a glass filled with ice and top up with ginger ale (we like it with Fentimans Ginger Ale). Garnish with a sprig of mint and a maraschino cherry and enjoy. If you love a cocktail, how about a rich and indulgent Bananarumba. Firstly, rim the glass with melted chocolate, then pour 35ml Mermaid Spiced Rum, 20ml banana liqueur, 15ml chocolate liqueur and 75ml oat milk into a cocktail shaker with ice. Roll it gently (no need to shake), until everything is blended together and nicely chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of caramilised banana.

The House of Botanicals ABZ Dry Gin 70cl

The House of Botanicals ABZ Dry Gin The House of Botanicals werd in 2009 opgericht in het centrum van Aberdeen in Noordoost-Schotland. Het is een gecertificeerde B Corp™ en is eigendom van en wordt beheerd door een klein man en vrouw team van Adam & Steffie Elan-Elmegirab. Ze gebruiken een combinatie van traditionele en moderne productietechnieken, evenals Britse graan-eau-de-vie als alcoholische basis van hun drankjes. Vervolgens kopen ze plantaardige producten van over de hele wereld in en produceren ze volledig met natuurlijke ingrediënten - zonder gebruik te maken van kunstmatige smaakstoffen, conserveringsmiddelen of kleurstoffen. Leuk weetje: het wapenschild op de flessen is een eerbetoon aan zowel de wapenschilden van Aberdeen als die van London City. De Black Panther verwijst naar de hiphopmuziek waar het team de meeste dagen naar luisterde - evenals naar de originele Old Tom-branding die gewoonlijk een Black Cat zou bevatten. Hoewel ze misschien het best bekend staan om hun heerlijke Old Tom gins, hebben ze nu hun eerste niet-Old Tom uitgebracht, met hun ABZ (de Aberdeen Airport Code) Dry Gin. Dit wordt gemaakt met behulp van een proces in twee fasen. Aanvankelijk gebruiken ze een traditionele koperen potdestillatie van jeneverbessen, engelwortel, orriswortel, korianderzaad, cassiaschors, amandel, sinaasappelschil en citroenschil. Hierna wordt een tweede fase maceratie gebruikt met saffraandraadjes, venkelzaadjes en een vleugje aardbei. De tweede preoccess die wordt gebruikt, behoudt de meer delicate smaken in deze plantaardige producten, die verloren zouden gaan bij traditionele distillatie. Het resultaat is een gin met een lichte perzikkleur, met een aroma van jeneverbes, butterscotch, citroen en een onderliggende noot van gebarsten zwarte peper. In de mond heeft dit een rijk, romig mondgevoel - waarbij de jeneverbes en dennen een sterke ondertoon aan de gin geven. Heldere citrus, warme zoete anijs en romige aardbei leiden tot een afdronk van gebarsten zwarte peper die de smaakpapillen verlevendigt. Meer van The House of Botanicals Perfect Serve Dit werkt perfect als een longdrink, gemengd met een droge tonic (zoals Three Cents Dry Tonic) of Fever-Tree's Sicillian Lemonade. Neem bij beide opties een groot glas gevuld met ijs en voeg 50 ml van de gin toe. Giet er voorzichtig 150 - 200 ml van je gekozen tonic over en roer voorzichtig. Garneer met een dun schijfje aardbei. Het doet het ook bijzonder goed in de mix, in cocktails zoals de Dry Martini, Gimlet, Southside of Gin Fizz.

The House of Botanicals Maple Old Tom Gin The House of Botanicals was founded in 2009 in the centre of Aberdeen in North East Scotland. It's a certified B Corp™ and is owned and operated by a small husband and wife team of Adam & Steffie Elan-Elmegirab. They use a combination of traditional and modern production techniques, as well as British grain spirit as the alcoholic base of their drinks. They then source botanicals from across the globe, and produce entirely with natural ingredients - refraining from using artificial flavours, preservatives or colours. Fun Fact: The coat of Arms on the bottles is a homage to both the Aberdeen and London City Coats of Arms. The Black panther adds a reference to the hip-hop music listened to by the team on most days - as well as the original Old Tom branding which would commonly feature a Black Cat. As part of their exploration of global flavours, in July 2018 The House of Botanicals launched their Maple Old Tom. This was initially due to be only a limited edition, with just 1112 bottles produced - and was introduced at the Aberdeen Gin Fest. Due to its popularity, it was relaunched in March 2019 - becoming a permanent addition to their range. Whilst new to the House of Botanicals range, the production of Maple Gin goes back over 100 years. It was originally created by the Buffalo Distilling Company of New York between 1893 and 1918 (prior to the temperance movement and then prohibition. For their edition, the House of Botanicals use the same base as their Classic Old Tom. However they then lightly sweeten it with maple syrup (less than 25g per litre, so as not to 'over-sweeten'). The result is a delicious straw coloured gin. The nose has juniper and bright citrus notes - joined by piney juniper. On the palate there is a buttery mouthfeel, with bright and fresh piney juniper. This is perfectly balanced with hints of sweet maple, fudge, warm orange citrus, vanilla, and chamomile. The finish is long, clean and invigorating with a hint of butterscotch More from The House of Botanicals Perfect Serve This is a deliciously versatile Old Tom, which works well with a simple mixer (such as tonic water, ginger ale and even grapefruit soda), but also in cocktails. As can be expected, raspberries also come through - along with a hint of black pepper. Mermaid Gin Gepresenteerd in een prachtige "visschaal" -achtige fles met een kurken stop, wordt deze gin sinds 2014 met de hand gemaakt op het Isle of Wight (een klein eiland voor de zuidkust van het VK). De Isle of Wight Distillery gebruikt er tien. ethisch geproduceerde plantaardige ingrediënten bij de creatie van Mermaid Gin. Deze kenmerkende gin is vernoemd naar de leidende botanische (rotszeekraal), die plaatselijk op het Isle of Wight bekend staat als "Mermaid's kiss". Deze vetplant is aromatisch en klampt zich vast aan de kliffen rond het eiland, en ze markeren de vloedlijn op de prachtige stranden waar het bekend om staat. Het levert een soepele maar complexe mix van verse biologische citroenschil en peperige paradijskorrels, met een vleugje zeelucht van de lokaal geoogste, geurige zeekraal. Een verfrissende en verkwikkende bediening, voor de vrijgevochten. Wist je dat? De Isle of Wight-distilleerderij geeft om het milieu. In 2019 hebben ze het plastic volledig uit hun flessen gehaald. Mermaid Gin Presented in a stunning "fish-scale" like bottle with a cork stopper, this gin has been hand-crafted on the Isle of Wight (a small island off the south coast of the UK) since 2014. The Isle of Wight Distillery use ten ethically sourced botanicals in the creation of Mermaid Gin. This signature gin was named after the lead botanical (rock samphire), which is known locally in the Isle of Wight as "Mermaid's kiss". This succulent is aromatic, and clings to the cliffs surrounding the island, and they mark the high tide line on the beautiful beaches it's known for. Like the kiss of the mythical mermaid (which saved sailors lost at sea), the rock samphire was a signal that shipwrecked sailors (and smugglers through history!) were safe from the raging seas. The samphire gives fresh citrus notes, as well as a delicate hint of fresh sea air. Other botanicals in this gin include elderflower for its aroma, grains of paradise for a smooth delicate pepper taste, organic lemon zest for vibrant citrus notes, boadicea hops which give a spicy earthiness, coriander which adds a delicate herbal citrus tone, angelica root which assists in blending the other botanicals into a coherent taste and aroma, liquorice root to help define the mouthfeel and add a touch of smoothness, orris root which aids in holding the aroma of the gin, and lastly (but no means least), juniper which is core in all gins.  It delivers a smooth yet complex blend of fresh organic lemon zest and peppery grains of paradise, with a hint of sea air from the locally foraged, fragrant rock samphire. A refreshing and invigorating serve, for the free-spirited. Did you know? The Isle of Wight Distillery care about the environment. In 2019, they completely removed plastic from their bottles. In 2021 they switched to only using 100% renewable energy suppliers at the distillery and in 2022 they achieved B Corp Certification - meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. The House of Botanicals Classic Old Tom Gin The House of Botanicals was founded in 2009 in the centre of Aberdeen in North East Scotland. It's a certified B Corp™ and is owned and operated by a small husband and wife team of Adam & Steffie Elan-Elmegirab. They use a combination of traditional and modern production techniques, as well as British grain spirit as the alcoholic base of their drinks. They then source botanicals from across the globe, and produce entirely with natural ingredients - refraining from using artificial flavours, preservatives or colours. The Black panther adds a reference to the hip-hop music listened to by the team on most days - as well as the original Old Tom branding which would commonly feature a Black Cat. Their Old Tom gin was released in April 2018, and was inspired by the botanical rich and lightly sweetened Old Tom Gins of the past. The base gin for this Old Tom is actually produced in London, which is a subtle 'nod' to the history of Old Tom gins. This gin is made with juniper berries, angelica root, orris root, coriander seed, cassia bark, almond, orange peel and lemon peel. This produces a gin which is rich in piney juniper, citrus and elegant spices. The gin is then brought to the team in Aberdeen. Here they transform the dry gin into an award-winning Old Tom. They macerate Moroccan Saffron and Chamomile Flowers in the gin, as well as adding the sweetness of an Old Tom gin with Muscovado Sugar. Once this process is completed, the final Old Tom gin is ready. The result is a delicious golden yellow gin. The nose has floral hints with spice and juniper dominating. On the palate the spice and juniper continue, and are joined by warming pine notes as well as hints of coriander. These lead into sweet citrus, and chamomile. The finish is long and fragrant, with both the sweetness and spice lingering to the end. It is worth noting that this gin was awarded the highest score (98/100) in history for an Old Tom gin by the IWSC in 2022. Try in a Negroni, Gin Fizz or a Martinez. Our favourite is definitely the Martinez Cocktail. In a mixing glass filled with ice add 60ml of Vermouth, 30ml of the Old Tom Gin, 2 dashes of Maraschino Liqueur, and 3 dashes of Bokers Bitters. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a wedge of fresh lemon.
