J&B Rare Whisky The history behind J&B (Justerini & Brooks) goes back to 1749, when it was founded as a Fine Wine & Spirits merchant to supply the aristocratic houses of London. It even went on to supply every British Monarch since King George III in 1761. This, their J&B Rare Whisky first went on sale in 1933 following the end of prohibition in the US. The blend contains a total of 42 different single malt and grain whiskies from Scotland. These include distilleries like Knockando, Auchroisk and Glen Spey. Whilst the whisky was created with mixing in mind - it is most definitely versatile enough to be enjoyed neat, or on the rocks - with its smooth, fruity taste being enjoyed however you like. On the nose there are notes or orange zest and malt, with warming caramel, apples and walnuts. The palate is balanced, smooth and full of ripe fruit - with the malt and a delicate toffee sweetness. As the drink finishes, it remains exeptionally balanced - lingering, but not overly so to a medium finish with woody oak and a touch of cinnamon spice.  More from J&B Perfect Serve Whilst this is a whisky which is easily enjoyed on its own - we really liked this in a Whisky Ginger. Chivas Regal 12 Years Whisky Produced by Chivas Brothers (which is owned by Pernod Ricard) at the Strathisla distillery in Keith, Moray in Speyside (Scotland, UK). This distillery was founded in 1786, and is the oldest continuously operating Highland distillery. Their 12 Years Aged Whisky is a blended Scotch Whisky, and the market-leader in the 12 year and over aged whisky category in Europe and Asia Pacific. It's made of a blend of malt and grain scotch whiskies and is their signature blend. It was also the first in the family of Chivas whiskies to have been released after prohibition. Known and loved flavours which are iconic in the Speyside region are at the heart of this whisky. Wild heather, sweet honey and crisp orchard fruits are the result of years of experience from the master blenders. This taste has been maintained since the pioneers of blended Scotch whisky (the founders of Chivas Regal, John and James Chivas) first started blending. Within the blend itself you will find the finest mail and grain whiskies. Strathisla single malt, Strathclyde single grain and yet more are blended to create a whisky known for its smoothness. A variety of different casks are also sourced for the maturation of the 12-year-old whiskies, again - ensuring the quality. On the nose this whisky gives the signature aromas, and is particularly aromatic. Wild herbs, heather, honey and orchard fruits all greet the nose. On the palate, this is rich, round and deliciously creamy. Honey and ripe pears come through, and are also joined by vanilla, hazelnuts and even butterscotch. Glenmorangie The Original 10 Years Old Whisky De geschiedenis van de Glenmorangie-distilleerderij gaat terug tot 1843, toen William Matheson Morangie Farm overnam en daar een bestaande brouwerij ombouwde tot een distilleerderij. The Glenlivet Founders Reserve Whisky For their Founders Reserve, The Glenlivet have created an expression which is a tribute to George Smith, their founder. This has all the classic flavours of The Glenlivet, but is a a smooth creamier expression. They have utilised the time-honoured distillation methods which George Smith used, as well as the same mountain stream water.  This is then matured in traditional oak casks. When George Smith created his blends, there were no age-statements on whisky's. Instead he utilised his freedom in selecting and blending, and with this expression The Glenlivet have done the same - selecting whisky from traditional ages oak casks from a range of ages. To give a modern twist, their Mast Distiller (Alan Winchester) then marries a selection of the aged oak casks and American first-fill oak casks. These first-fill oak casks haven't been used to mature whisky, and when used selectively provide a smooth, creamy sweetness. This intermingles perfectly with the delicate flavours and fruity tonies already in the whisky.  The result is a whisky that The Glenlivet believe their founder would approve of. It has a pale gold colour, which gives an aroma full of sweet citrus fruits, with orange being predominant. In the mouth the orange again comes through, with a zestiness which is complimented by pear flavours and a touch of toffee apples. The flavours give a delicious blend of creamy sweetness and a refreshing zestiness from the citrus. The finish is pleasantly long, very smooth and creamy right to the end. It started with George Ballantine in a small grocery store in Edinburgh. Here he would supply a range of whiskies to his customers. his developed into a larger establishment in Edinburgh, where along with his son George Junior they began to create their own blends. In 1920, the recipe for Ballantine's Finest was created, and it has stayed true to the original ever since. The result is a whisky which has become Europe's No. 1 Scotch Whisky, and was voted the World's Best Blended Scotch in 2020. Fun Fact: During prohibition, the bottles were designed to be square so that American Salesmen could conceal them in their briefcases without them rolling around should any inspectors be around! Finest is a great classic all-rounder. It has a light gold colour, and a nose which is soft, with notes of heather, honey and just a hint of delicate spice. The flavour is balanced well, subtle, and has hints of milk chocolate, red apples and vanilla. The finish leaves the palate feeling fresh, with a floral after-taste. Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky First produced in Scotland by Willian Grant & Sons in 2003, Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt whisky (the style used to be called 'Vatted Malt Whisky'). Since it's introduction it has fast grown to become the world's third best-selling brand of Scotch Whisky.  Whilst Monkey Shoulder has only been produced since 2003, William Grant & Sons has been distilling award-winning Scotch whiskies since 1887. It was created primarily to ensure the perfect whisky cocktail (but of course can also be enjoyed straight!). It was originally a blend from the Balbenie, Glenfiddich, and Kininvie distillers - but it's current composition is a secret. However it is known that its constituent malt whiskies originate from the Speyside region of Scotland (the area around the River Spey in northeastern Scotland). Fun Fact: The brand name 'Monkey Shoulder' is a reference to a repetitive strain injury which distillery workers often suffered from. This was due to long shifts turning malt by hand. On the nose there is zesty orange, with vanilla honey and spiced oak. On the palate there is a mild vanilla flavour, with hints of spice. As it was made to be mixed, its smooth, malty and fruit notes are strong enough to stand out in the mix - but remain balanced so as not to over-power a cocktail. Firstly, for a refreshing OMG (Orange / Monkey / Ginger), a variation on the Ginger Mule. Take a tall glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the Monkey Shoulder and 120ml of your favourite ginger ale (we like Fentimans). Stir gently and garnish with a wedge of Orange. For a Rob Roy Cocktail, take a mixing glass filled with ice and add 50ml of Monkey Shoulder, 25ml of Sweet Vermouth, and 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Mix well until chilled and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with some orange zest.

Proclamation Blended Irish Whiskey Met hun Blended Irish Whiskey wil de distilleerderij zowel de geschiedenis als de mensen achter de geboorte van de Proclamatie (het document dat de oprichting van de Ierse Republiek in 1916 afkondigde) eren. Als drievoudig gedistilleerde whisky is het een eerbetoon aan de drie drukkers van de Proclamatie, William O’Brien, Michael Molloy en Christopher Joseph Brady. Na dit proces wordt hij gerijpt in nieuw Amerikaans eikenhout, wat zorgt voor een bijzonder soepele whisky met een zuivere smaak. Eenmaal voldoende gerijpt, wordt de whisky vervolgens gerijpt in bourbonvaten en gemengd met een vleugje met sherry afgewerkte mout, wat een ronde, geroosterde afdronk geeft. De neus brengt aroma's van rijpe peren, samen met aprokozen en crème brulée. Hints van custard en cappucino komen ook naar voren - en eindigen met een vleugje hout. Het palet is meerlaags. Aanvankelijk komen geroosterde brioche en gebakken gebak naar voren, evenals rijk geel fruit. Teeling Small Batch Irish Whiskey Met een familiegeschiedenis in distilleren die teruggaat tot Walter Teeling in 1782, was het geen verrassing toen Jack en Stephen Teeling in 2015 een distilleerderij openden in Dublin. In feite is de Teeling-distilleerderij nu de eerste nieuwe distilleerderij in Dublin sinds meer dan 125 jaar . Ze wilden een eigentijds merk creëren, waarbij ze, met het oog op de toekomst, het verleden in de gaten houden. Zo kunnen ze de moderne whiskydrinker aanspreken, terwijl tradities in ere worden gehouden. Voor hun small batch whisky zorgt hun onconventionele aanpak voor een whisky met een natuurlijk karakter. Hoewel dit ongetwijfeld een Ierse whisky is, hebben ze uitgedaagd wat dit betekent. Het heeft verschillende smaaklagen die het resultaat zijn van hun onconventionele rijpingsproces op vat. Met behulp van ex-bourbonvaten rijpen ze graan- en maltwhisky's. Dit proces geeft heerlijke tonen van vanille en eikenhout aan de whisky. Verdere invloeden van de rumshows met fruittonen die naar voren komen, met een zoet-kruidige afdronk die wordt aangevuld met een aanhoudende houtachtige ondertoon.
