Miscanthus 'Ferner Osten' - 11cm

Miscanthus 'Ferner Osten' - 11cm

Miscanthus 'Ferner Osten' is a cherished addition on our nursery, renowned for its unique foliage and reliable garden performance. This ornamental grass, awarded the prestigious RHS Garden Merit, is beloved by our head grower for its striking appearance and versatility in the garden. 'Ferner Osten' stands out with its beautifully arching leaves that transition from green to a deep burgundy-red as the season progresses. The foliage provides a dynamic visual interest that enhances garden designs with its rich, warm tones. In late Summer to early Autumn, it produces elegant, feathery plumes of reddish-purple flowers that gradually fade to silver, adding texture and movement to the garden. Our head grower selected Miscanthus 'Ferner Osten' for its exceptional performance and minimal care requirements. It thrives in a variety of soil types, provided they are well-drained, and it can tolerate both full sun and partial shade. Its drought tolerance makes it an excellent choice for sustainable and low-maintenance gardens. This grass looks spectacular when planted in mixed borders, where its height and texture provide a beautiful backdrop for perennials and shrubs. It is also ideal for creating naturalistic landscapes, prairie-style gardens, and as a striking focal point in contemporary designs. 'Ferner Osten' not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of gardens but also contributes to biodiversity by providing habitat and food for wildlife. Its unique foliage colour and reliable performance make it a wonderful choice.

Leucanthemum 'Broadway Lights' - 3 Litre Pot

Leucanthemum 'Broadway Lights' - 3 Litre Pot

Our favourite Shasta Daisy is Leucanthemum 'Broadway Lights' and has been selected by our horticultural team for its exceptional pollinating qualities and vivid colour interest throughout the growing season. Leathery rich green foliage grounds the large yellow centred blooms that open a vivid lemon yellow colour, fade to cream and mature to a whimsical white by the end of the Summer. These informal blooms are perfect for the front of your beds and borders, allowing you to easily reach and pick some enchanting cut flowers to enjoy indoors.  The relaxed meadow prairie feel of Shasta Daisy's are perfect for cottage gardens and wildlife gardens.  In stark contrast we also enjoy seeing the daisy in an urban and contemporary space too. With an average height of 45-60 cm, these charming daisies become a standout feature in borders but also enjoyed in rock gardens, or Summer container arrangements. Their graceful appearance and compact habit make them a versatile choice for various garden styles, including traditional to contemporary. We recommend planting a patch of Leucanthemums together en masse; for an impactful space of swirling cheerful blooms that can be cut for prairie arrangements and also left for wild bees and other declining pollinators to enjoy. 'Broadway Lights' provide forage for a wide variety of pollinating insects and holds the prestigious RHS Plants for Pollinators Award. Overall, we prioritise plants that are fully hardy and will stand the test of time in your garden, 'Broadway Lights' is horticultural gem for durability and a powerful pollinator bringing a wealth of wildlife to your outdoor space. Easy to grow and offering good disease and pest resistance, we favour cheerful Shasta Daisy for every garden border.
