The Pittosporum Tobira is a sweet smelling evergreen tree that is native to East Asian countries such as Japan, China, Korea and even Greece surprisingly. Platanus x Acerifolia (London Plane / London Planetree) - Standard Pleached

The Platanus x Acerifolia, also more commonly known as the London Plane, is the same plant as the Hispanica. This plant is in our Standard Espalier Style design. It has a rather interesting history. The actual plant species was formed by accidental hybridisation due to the close proximity of P. Orientalis and P. Occidentalis. It is said to have happened in Spain during the mid 17th century but there are beliefs that state it happened in Vauxhall Gardens in London where John Tradescant the Younger discovered the tree. The actual plant itself has an inconspicuous flower but starts to grow fruit in the winter time. Well drained soil is recommended for this plant and make sure to avoid planting in the vicinity of other buildings. Magnolia Grandiflora Gallisoniensis (Southern Magnolia) - Standard

The Magnolia Grandiflora is a plant that is native to the Southern U.S states, ranging from Southeastern North Carolina, Central Florida and all the way to East Texas. The plant itself is very popular along traditional culture and as late as 2018, an iconic Southern Magnolia planted 200 years ago by President Andrew Jackson finally reached maturity. Magnolia Grandiflora typically has a single stem (or trunk) and a pyramidal shape. The leaves are simple and broadly ovate, 12–20 cm long and 6–12 cm broad, with smooth margins. They are dark green, stiff and leathery, and often scurfy underneath with yellow-brown pubescence. Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Standard Pleached

Commonly called the Holly Oak tree, Quercus Ilex often live for more than a thousand years. They are large evergreens with very dense crowns of leaves. They have strong polymorphic leaf of 2 - 9cm long; the younger leaves are wider and have toothed, sharp margins. The colour and texture of the Quercus Ilex varies from hairy, tender and pale green when they first appear to a leathery, dark green, covered in soft white hairs on the underside, when adult. Both male and female flowers are borne on catkins and appear in June, the first ones being the most decorative as they are a soft yellow. Grows in poor soil, but prefers calcareous, and does not like clay. Will withstand a lack of water in hot, dry summers and tolerates any kind of pruning. These are effective wind breaks, are suited to full sun or shade, good on their own or in groups and resists the salty winds of a sea climate very well, without damage to the beautiful foliage. Citrus Limonum (Lemon Trees) - Half Standard

The Citrus Limonum, popularly known as Lemon Trees, are one of the most known plants to mankind for their ability to produce the delightful lemon fruit. The history of the origins of lemons is unknown although it is believed they were first grown in Assam, a region of northeast India, northern Burma or even China. Lemons and their associated trees started to enter Europe during the time of Ancient Rome, but they were not widely cultivated. The first major cultivation of these plants only started to take shape in Europe during the middle of the 15th century in Genoa, Italy. The most famous story of lemons though is of course Scottish doctor James Lind’s experiments on using vitamin C from lemons on seamen suffering from scurvy, hence the popular British nickname overseas as “Limey”. Our version of the lemon trees is now in Espalier fashion. Citrus are self fertile so once you have planted, a single plant should be able to produce fruit. The plant itself likes a lot of sunlight so feel free to let it grow outdoors during pleasant weather. However, bear in mind that the plant has a very low tolerance to cold and only comes up as H1c on the rating score, so make sure to keep some fleece or anything else you have at hand to keep the plant warm if the temperature suddenly drops at night time. It can be a good idea for year long growth to have an insulation room in your house with a strong UV light to help continue growing the plant. For maintenance, minimal pruning is required.
