Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! is a dating sim and psychological horror game in the visual novel genre. The game is a paid, improved version of the free Doki Doki Literature Club from 2017. Again, we play the role of a teenager joining the school literary club in search of love. Like its predecessor, the title is intended only for adults and is not recommended for the faint of heart.
Story
The general outline of the plot remains unchanged. The main character is a high school student, whom we name ourselves. He joins the school's literary club of four girls. They are Sayori, his cheerful childhood friend, Natsuki, who plays the role of a typical tsundere, withdrawn and shy Yuri, and the chairman of the club Monika. The protagonist spends time with the girls, writes poems with them and gets closer to them. Over time, however, the tone of the story changes dramatically, and the literary club turns out to be hiding a dark secret. DDLC Plus! additionally expands the game with six new side stories, bringing the player closer to the characters.
Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, DDLC Plus! is a classic visual novel game, mainly based on reading dialogues and choosing answers. A unique element is the mini-game consisting in writing poems. We choose certain phrases during it to make our poetry more attractive to one of the club members. The further course of the story depends on our poems and the decisions we make. T
he rewards for progressing in the game are illustrations that we unlock by spending time with the girls after school. Due to the introduction of side stories, the number of available illustrations has increased dramatically. Plus! adds a music player to the game, allowing us to create compilations from the songs available in the game, and listen to them in the background during the game.
