9th Company: Roots of Terror is a dynamic real-time strategy (RTS), referring to the successful Russian war film from 2005 (known in Poland as the 9th company). The program created by the Lesta Studio studio is characterized by an interesting theater of war struggles (the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan, the end of the 1980s) and a great drama in conveying armed skirmishes.The axis of the game is the Soviet-Afghan conflict, where the player, as a field commander, leads the soldiers directly into battle in a three-dimensional environment. The authors have prepared eleven detailed maps of Afghanistan, on which individual missions of the game campaign take place. It is worth noting that the battles are mostly non-linear, giving the players a lot of room for tactical skills.The program is characterized by a fairly high realism of the battlefield. Individual soldiers have different effectiveness, depending on experience and equipment.
