Patio Fruit Trees Cherry Athos and Plum Little Vic

Patio Fruit Trees Cherry Athos and Plum Little Vic

We are delighted to offer you the chance to grow the Nation's favourite fruit trees in your garden, on a balcony, terrace or patio. Thanks to recent breeding breakthroughs, we can now bring you plums and cherries on compact plants so that everyone can have a go at growing them!Cherry 'Athos'Delicious fruits are super sweet and have an old fashioned mouth-watering aromatic flavour - each totally winter hardy bush will produce up to 5kg of fruit per year once fully established.Because it grows in a naturally dwarf bush habit and on its own roots, rather than as a tall grafted tree, you can pick your heavy crop of tasty cherries from each branch, easily and from the safety of ground level every summer from early July, so no 'Cherry Pickers' required! As this variety is self fertile, it does not have to be planted side-by-side with another for pollination.'Athos' is perfect for any garden and is even suitable to grow in a large pot - it could even be grown as the ultimate productive hedge!Plum 'Little Vic'Clever fruit tree grower Will Sibley has teamed the ever-popular best-selling 'Victoria' with a very dwarfing and compact new VVA1 rootstock, which removes most of the vigour that can sometimes be the downfall of Plums. It's like someone has shrunk the tree yet kept the fruit the same - just as big and juicy as the normal variety. It still produces lovely pure white spring blossom displays, and is self-fertile, so no other plums needed for fruit - just the bees that need to do their thing!Perfect in large patio pots (minimum 30cm diameter) for 5 years or so, it produces big, juicy crops of classic red Victoria plums, yet stays small, manageable and perfect for everyone.

Tree Fern Dicksonia Antractica Log

Tree Fern Dicksonia Antractica Log

Tree ferns were a firm plant hunter's favourite from Victorian times, a symbol of wealth and travel experiences to Australia. They have maintained this sense of mystique ever since. Now you too can grow these surprisingly easy and exotic looking plants too.Harvested under strict license from woodland clearance in Australia and Tasmania, these astonishing plants really will delight and amaze. They grow under the woodland canopy, in the shade, so grow them here in a sheltered spot too. These 'potter' logs are already over 10 years old, and have been cut back and harvested dormant. When you water them via the top crown, they will burst back to life, like it's the new rainy season! Because they grow in leaf canopies, most of their food comes from leaves falling into their giant shuttlecock like fronds, funnelling the goodness into the growing crown. Even at this size of log at 30cm tall, new fronds of almost 1m in length will unfurl spectacularly in time. It's amazing when they come how quickly they grow. The plant is hardy down to -5C in winter, although the fronds will die back. Cutting these off when they die back is what creates the new trunk, which slowly inches up over many, many years. Keep the crown protected in winter with a layer of straw or wrap in a layer of horticultural fleece to keep cold and wet out. When you get it home, plant it in a big pot, or in the garden soil. Supplied dormant, with fronds that unfurl with time. Some may take up to two months for notable growth, but trust us, the wait will certainly be worth it!

Tree ferns were a firm plant hunter's favourite from Victorian times, a symbol of wealth and travel experiences to Australia. They have maintained this sense of mystique ever since. Now you too can grow these surprisingly easy exotic looking plants too. Harvested under strict License from woodland clearance in Australia and Tasmania, these astonishing plants really will delight and amaze. They grow under the woodland canopy, in the shade, so grow them here in a sheltered spot too. These 'potter' logs are at least 10 years old, and have been cut back and harvested dormant. When you water them via the top crown, they will burst back into life, like it's the new rainy season! Because they grow in leaf canopies, most of their food comes from leaves falling into their giant shuttlecock like fronds, funnelling the goodness into the growing crown. That's hard to achieve in UK gardens so we provide 500ml of concentrated tree fern food, which mimics this feeding method. Even at this size of log at 18-25cm tall, new fronds of almost 1M in length will unfurl spectacularly within a Month or so of you watering it. It's amazing when they come how quickly they grow. The plant is hardy down to -5 in Winter, although the fronds will die back. Cutting these off when they die back is what creates the new trunk, which slowly inches up over many, many years. Keep the crown protected in Winter with a layer of straw to keep cold and wet out. When you get it home, plant it in a big pot, or in the garden soil. It takes almost 2 years to root in, so do not be alarmed by this slow growing beauty.
