Photinia x Fraseri Red Robin (Christmas Berry Red Robin) - Standard

Photinia x Fraseri Red Robin (Christmas Berry Red Robin) - Standard

Photinia x Fraseri Red Robin, also known as Photinia Serrulata Red Robin or occasionally the Christmas Berry, is a group of evergreen shrubs grown specifically for glossy, dark green adult foliage, white flowers and brilliant red tinted young leaves; in the spring, they unfold to give a stunning display. The best known of the photinias is Photinia Red Robin, which is often planted as a specimen shrub or as a dense, evergreen hedge. A Christmas Berry Red Robin puts on a show all year round, with white springtime flowers and new leaves that start out as a vibrant red, before darkening to a glossy green as they age. These bright colours are popular with wildlife, but due to its loose branch structure, birds are unlikely to choose the Red Robin as a nesting location (which is ironic). Christmas Berry Red Robins are an excellent choice for creating interesting hedges and borders. Laurus Nobilis (Bay Tree) – Standard

Laurus Nobilis (Bay Tree) – Standard

Laurus Nobilis, also known as the bay laurel, bay tree, true laurel or Grecian laurel tree is a popular fragrant evergreen shrub suitable for containers or planted in the ground as a small tree. The bay tree has a noble history. It was sacred to the god Apollo and laurel wreaths were worn by poets and emperors in ancient Greece and Rome. Bay leaves can be used fresh or dried in cooking to give a fragrant flavour to soups and stews. Small greenish-yellow male or female flowers are produced in spring, followed by black berries on female plants. The plant is rather hardy at H4 and only needs to be sheltered during the most extreme cold snap. It is affected by potential pests and diseases so keep an eye on this. Portuguese Laurel Cherry (Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia) - Standard

Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is a bushy, evergreen shrub which has been widely used since Victorian times to create Italian style gardens. The oblong leaves are 7 cm long, green above with woolly white underside. Pineapple guava bark is initially light reddish brown but turns darker and peels with age. Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak Tree / Holly Oak) - Standard

Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak Tree / Holly Oak) - Standard

Commonly called the Holly Oak tree, Quercus Ilex often live for more than a thousand years. They are large evergreens with very dense crowns of leaves. They have strong polymorphic leaf of 2 - 9cm long; the younger leaves are wider and have toothed, sharp margins. The colour and texture of the Quercus Ilex varies from hairy, tender and pale green when they first appear to a leathery, dark green, covered in soft white hairs on the underside, when adult. Both male and female flowers are borne on catkins and appear in June, the first ones being the most decorative as they are a soft yellow. Grows in poor soil, but prefers calcareous, and does not like clay. Will withstand a lack of water in hot, dry summers and tolerates any kind of pruning. These are effective wind breaks, are suited to full sun or shade, good on their own or in groups and resists the salty winds of a sea climate very well, without damage to the beautiful foliage. Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens (Holly) - Standard

Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens (Holly) - Standard

The Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens is a holly plant that is a cross between English holly ilex aquifolium and Chinese holly ilex cornuta. The plant itself with its beautiful glossy green leaves and red berries has always been traditionally seen in Europe and America as Christmas holly and used in some European countries to ward off evil spirits by hanging them above the doorway. The flowering period is April where it usually starts to blossom its small white flowers and during the Autumn-Winter period, the actual berries themselves start to form. It is a bushy plant with a fast growth speed. It does not requiring maintenance but a quick trim in the summer could help if the leaves get a bit too long. The hardiness of this plant at H6 is perfect for the British climate and only during the extreme cold do you need to shelter it. Be careful of pests and potentially the holly leaf disease with this plant. Be careful not to eat the berries, no matter how inviting they may seem, as they could cause potentially a minor stomach upset if ingested. Wisteria Floribunda Black Dragon - Umbrella

Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Standard Pleached

Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Standard Pleached

It has a hardiness rating of H4 making it good for the British climate but better take measures to protect it during extreme cold snaps. It is prone to pests but is generally disease free.
