Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) - Standard

Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) - Standard

Olea Europaea is increasingly being grown in containers as a Specimen Plant in UK gardens. The attractive evergreen foliage accounts for its popularity as the olive tree retains its pointed leathery grey-green leaves all year round. Tiny scented white flowers appear in late spring often followed later in the year by small, ornamental fruit. For the olive tree fruit to ripen fully, it needs a long, hot summer followed by a cooler winter, though the exact temperatures depend on the specific cultivar. Despite this, some gardeners in milder parts of the UK have managed to grow edible olives from their own olive tree. This plant needs plenty of natural sunlight and it has a hardiness rating of H4, making it very durable in the UK’s climate. Just make sure to shelter the plants during extreme cold snaps. Try to give this plant a once year trim and follow the guidelines of pruning group 1 for further ideas. The plant is generally disease free but has a potential problem with pests. Latin Name: Olea Europaea English Name: Common Olive Species: Oleaceae Genus: Olea Foliage Type: Evergreen. Foliage: Green-Grey-White Fragrance: Flower Flower: White Flowering Period: Summer Suggested Location: Outdoor. Suggested Soil Type: Moist but well-drained. Under glass, grow in John Innes No 3 with added sharp sand, in full light Propagation: Propagate by seed in spring at a temperature of 13 - 15°C (55 - 59°F). Can also be propagated by semi-ripe cuttings in summer Suggested planting locations and garden types: City & Courtyard Gardens Coastal Gravel Garden Mediterranean Climate Plants Patio & Container Plants Sub-tropical Pests: Scale insect may be a problem Diseases: Usually trouble free Final Height: 4 m - 8 m (13.1 ft – 26.2 ft) Final Spread: 1.5 m – 2.5 m (4.9 ft – 8.2 ft) Delivery Cost: This is calculated based on the total size, weight and quantity of your order, as well as the location of your delivery address. Washingtonia Robusta (Mexican Fan Palm / Skyduster) - Extra

Washingtonia Robusta (Mexican Fan Palm / Skyduster) - Extra

There are two main commonly cultivated Washingtonia species: Washingtonia robusta ( Mexican palm, Skyduster, Petticoat Palm) and Washingtonia filifera (California fan palm). Washingtonia filifera differs from W. robusta by width of trunk, erectness of fronds, presence of strings on frond margins, gray-green color, and cold hardiness. The two species can also hybridise. Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Roof Shaped

Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Roof Shaped

Commonly called the Holly Oak tree, Quercus Ilex often live for more than a thousand years. They are large evergreens with very dense crowns of leaves. They have strong polymorphic leaf of 2 - 9cm long; the younger leaves are wider and have toothed, sharp margins. The colour and texture of the Quercus Ilex varies from hairy, tender and pale green when they first appear to a leathery, dark green, covered in soft white hairs on the underside, when adult. Both male and female flowers are borne on catkins and appear in June, the first ones being the most decorative as they are a soft yellow. Grows in poor soil, but prefers calcareous, and does not like clay. Will withstand a lack of water in hot, dry summers and tolerates any kind of pruning. These are effective wind breaks, are suited to full sun or shade, good on their own or in groups and resists the salty winds of a sea climate very well, without damage to the beautiful foliage. Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak Tree / Holly Oak) – Half-Standard

Commonly called the Holly Oak tree, Quercus Ilex often live for more than a thousand years. They are large evergreens with very dense crowns of leaves. They have strong polymorphic leaf of 2 – 9cm long; the younger leaves are wider and have toothed, sharp margins. The colour and texture of the Quercus Ilex varies from hairy, tender and pale green when they first appear to a leathery, dark green, covered in soft white hairs on the underside, when adult. Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) – Quarter Standard

Common Olive Tree (Olea Europaea) – Quarter Standard

Olea Europaea olive fruit tree is increasingly being grown in containers as a Specimen Plant in UK gardens. Just make sure to shelter the plants during extreme cold snaps.Try to give this plant a once year trim and follow the guidelines of pruning group 1 for further ideas. Taxus Baccata (English Yew) Japanese Style

Taxus Baccata (English Yew) Japanese Style

This collection of bonsai trees look stunning in any location and are resilient enough to handle the British weather. English Yew Bonsai Trees have small dark green needle-like leaves that explode outwards from horizontal branches. This density of foliage has made them a popular choice for topiary, as they are able to be trimmed with high precision without the risk of creating bald patches. English Yew Trees have a long pedigree in garden and landscape design – often used to create sharp-edged geometric forms, or as seen here, a cascade of rounded clouds and a tiered arrangement of “pagoda roofs”. These particular styles of English Yew Bonsai Trees are more developed than those available elsewhere on our website, but you’ll still have a few decades to enjoy their beauty before they reach maturity at around age 50. Even as a topiary bonsai, yew trees are fairly low maintenance and their glossy evergreen leaves will be a striking focal point of your garden throughout the year. Our Premium Bonsai Plants have been specially sculpted to form distinctive shapes. This growth-training is a process that can take over 30 years to create trees of this size. This care and attention becomes entwined with the plant itself – giving them a genuine “wow factor” and making them a favourite talking point with everyone who sees them. A Premium Bonsai Plant can help to create an atmosphere of luxury, sophistication and dedication in your garden, workplace, office atrium or shopping centre. Traditionally described as “unique”, this is no longer entirely true – thanks to the expert growers here at GardenPlantsOnline, it is now possible to produce bonsai plants with similar shapes by seeding them at the same time and growing them under the same conditions. This consistency of shape gives you the chance to create magnificently symmetrical designs, such as creating several water features with matching bonsai trees, or bookending both sides of a doorway or entrance foyer. Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Standard Pleached

Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Standard Pleached

It has a hardiness rating of H4 making it good for the British climate but better take measures to protect it during extreme cold snaps. It is prone to pests but is generally disease free.
