Make food available throughout the year, particularly during the breeding, nesting and fledging periods. Help reduce the risk of bacterial build-up by having several feeding areas and changing them regularly. Consider different foods and feeding methods. Some birds can hang from feeders while others may prefer table or ground feeding. Always provide a continuous supply of fresh food as wild birds will come to depend on the food that you put out for them. Only put out as much food as will be consumed in one or two days. Locate feeding stations near cover so that they’re easily accessible, but not too close if there is a risk of predators. Allow for a greater height if needed. Always provide fresh, clean water.
