Telemannisches Gesangbuch
“Nun danket alle Gott”, “Befiehl du deine Wege” und “Ein feste Burg” Georg Philipp Teleman collected these and other well-known chorales in his Fast allgemeinen Evangelisch-Musicalischen Lieder-Buch from 1730. This “Telemannische Gesangbuch,“ as it was later also known, contains about 2,000 hymns, with over 500 melodies. Telemann’s declared goal was to create a practical hymnbook for use all of the German speaking regions. That was the starting point of the unique success story of a Protestant hymnbook. This, to date, buried musical treasure has now been produced as a CD by Klaus Mertens, Thomas Fritzsch, Stefan Maass and Michael Schönheit, as well the boysoprano, Vincent Frisch as a world premiere recording.
