n 2020 the Picture Book for Guitar Players was reprinted with a renewed cover design and new title. This volume is intended for beginner guitarists and would like offer help for the practising of transition from one-part to two-part playing in particular, that is one of the most difficult tasks in the learning process. Pupils can learn through easy pieces various extended techniques on the guitar and practice the different positions and chords. The collection contains 30 well known transcriptions of European (mainly Hungarian) melodies. It is recommended to sing them as well, it helps to prime pupils for a more beautiful, musical performance. The book also includes several coloring pictures.

Irrlichtspiel für Violine und EnsZle

Three compositions which belong together were written by Tihanyi in 1991-1992: Winterszenen, Nachtszene (night Scene) and Irrlichtspiel (Will o the wisp). The Irrlichtspiel composition for violin solo and 19 instruments ensemble, came out of thenotes for the song entitled Irrlicht in the fifth scene of Winterszenen (...this composition exactly follows the musical process of Winterreise by Schubert...). Here, the starting point was the refrain-like, pregnant rhythm motive, attached to thepiano introduction of the Schubert song. At the end of the first part called Prelude, a miniature exposition prepares for the five developments. Their titles are: Adagio, Capriccio, Monolog,Pantomime and Postludio. The sounds of the piano are not meant to be the acoustic-harmonic support for the strings, but it is the string quartet that appears as the acoustic extension of the piano. Alice Etudes

Gergely Vajda (born 1973) is one of the most talented Hungarian composers of the mid-generation. He is an exceptionally versatile musician, being at the same time a clarinetist, a conductor, and a composer. He composed Alice Études, a 30-minute long composition in 7 movements, for the Farallon Quintet (California). Each movement is inspired by a quotation from the books by Lewis Carroll entitled Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Vajda was particularly preoccupied with the time-related aspects of the stories: for instance, experiencing time in slow motion while falling downwards really quickly, or living in time backwards and remembering it forwards. Inaddition, he was also inspired by playful elements like the possible combinations of changing seats around a circular table. All of the movements deal with one, two or at most three musical ideas which makes the composition a collection of étude-like pieces. Three movements are dedicated to classical-contemporary composers whose music is also heavily influenced by Lewis Carroll's books: György Ligeti, David del Tredici, and Unsuk Chin.

Jam Quartet : for Flute, 3 Triangles, piano and Cello

Jam Quartet was written in the summer of 2016.The macroform and declamation of the piece are reflected to improvising jazz-musicians, however it remains a reflection instead of imitation of the so-called jam session. Every musician is equally able to represent both the melodical and accompagnement-like musical materials, even the triangle-player has its own solo. The piece was dedicated to the THReNSeMBle. It was premiered by that ensemble on 16 November 2016 in Budapest at the closing concert of the international masterclass for composers led by Toshio Hosokawa and Péter Eötvös. The composition was awarded a special price by the GENERACE competition in Ostrava. MátéBalogh (born 1990) studied with Zoltán Jeney at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and later he attended the master classes of Fabio Nieder, Péter Eötvös, Christian Wolff, and Louis Andriessen. His compositions have featured in the programs of prestigious festivals (ManiFeste - IRCAM, Paris Milano Musica, ECSA - Bruxelles Kurtág & Ungarn - Bern Café Budapest). In 2013 he was one of the winners of the chamber opera workshop organized by the Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation and, in addition, has been awarded prizes by the European Composer and Songwriter Alliance, the Fondazione Spinola Banna per l Arte, and the New Hungarian Musical Forum.
