West of Dead is a classic representative of the so-called twin-stick shooters with a distinctive top view. The game was created in the British independent studio Upstream Arcade, founded by two former employees of Lionhead Studios (Fable, Black & White II).  The action of the game takes place in the town of Purgatory in Wyoming, a dark place filled with death and sin. It is not a classic Wild West - it is steeped in chaos and full of dead outlaws, humanoid wendigos and witches that must be eliminated on your way.  The year is 1888. The late William Mason awakens as an undead, and only the image of a man in black stuck in his head. This is how a journey full of corpses begins, which is like a nightmare for him.  West of Dead is a traditional twin-stick shooter with a top view, so it's all about defeating numerous enemies. In addition to the shooting system typical for this genre, the hero can avoid blows and fire by rolling, sliding on the ground and jumping over obstacles, as well as hiding behind covers, shooting at targets from there. The action is very dynamic and the corpse is thick. The game also draws elements from roguelics: randomly generated locations help to diversify the gameplay.  West of Dead has a distinctive comic-like art style. The very appearance of the main character, voiced by Ron Perlman (Fallout series, Hellboy and Pacific Rim series), resembles the character of Ghost Rider created by Marvel. The visual setting has been kept in a dark tone.
