Guacamelee! 2, the work of the independent DrinkBox Studios team, is a direct continuation of the warmly received Guacamelee. The game is a metroidvania platformer.
Story
Guacamelee! 2 action takes place seven years after the events of the first part of the series. The main character of the game, Juan Aguacate, lives a quiet life with his family. One day, his friend and mentor, Uay Chivo, discovers a new threat not only for Mexico, but for the whole world. The protagonist hides his face again under the luchador mask and faces the danger.
Gameplay
In Guacamelee! We observe the 2nd action from the side. The essence of the game is the exploration of fancy locations in a Mexican climate (we are talking about wetlands, abandoned temples or sun-scorched deserts), the construction of which resembles labyrinths - like other games under the sign of metroidvania, we get access to some places only when the hero has the appropriate abilities or tools. When traveling through successive areas, you should be careful, because Juan is bothered by both various traps and various opponents, among which powerful bosses lead the way. The battles are an important element of the game - we send enemies to the other world, making quick combinations of blows, finished with effective finishers. The main character has the ability to move between dimensions, which turns out to be especially useful when we are trying to avoid an obstacle or solve a puzzle.
