Originally this was a project started in the 1960?s, but was put on hold due to Wilson?s increasing instability. The album was considered the lost masterpiece of the Beach Boys until it was finally completed and released in 2004. The fabulous compositions are rich with the Beach Boys sound but there are seemingly even more layers and complex harmonies as Wilson experiments with the new technologies available to him. The album contains 17 tracks including the Grammy-winning song Mrs. O'Leary's Cow and the highly acclaimed Heroes and Villains, all arranged for piano, voice and guitar.

The CD presents Teddy Wilson at his best, playing tunes he made immortal in the thirties as pianist with clarinetist Benny Goodman. Teddy Wilson is accompanied by Jesper Lundgaard, a Dane who is one of Europe's top bassists, and the famous drummer Ed Thigpen, who also lives in Denmark. On this CD Wilson displays all the delicacy, elegance, taste, finesse and impeccible rhythm sense that has made him one of the best pianists in jazz.

One of the consummate stylists of jazz piano, Teddy Wilson was also extremely popular not only with listeners but fellow musicians. Beginning in the late 1930s and continuing through at least the following decade he was thought of as the ideal pianist. This CD includes the Keystone Transcriptions with Teddy Wilson on solo piano (1939/40) and the Associated Transcriptions with the Teddy Wilson Sextet with Emmett Berry, Benny Morton, Edmond Hall, Slam Stewart and Big Sid Catlett (1944), both recorded in New York. Also included are two sessions from Copenhagen with Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Bjarne Rostvold (1968) and with Jesper Lundgaard and Ed Thigpen (1980).

Teddy Wilson is widely regarded as having been the most important pianist of the swing era. A master of touch, taste and technique Wilson was, above all, a pianist of surpassing elegance ? a quality which was also very much evident in his personality. This CD was recorded live on May 21 1979 at the Slukefter Club in Tivoli, Copenhagen and it is an impressive example of how musicians of the same aesthetic persuasion can achieve excellent compatibility with hardly any preparation or rehearsal time. Throughout the CD Wilson gets great support from, and gives generous solo space to, Hugo Rasmussen (bass) who has worked with a host of top American jazzmen over the years and Ed Thigpen (drums) who settled in Copenhagen in 1972 having built an international reputation.

Wilson gives excellent performances of songs that he had played and loved for decades, finding something new and interesting in every one of them.
